so here is a hypothetical. As a pilot what if you go through a very tramautic crash such as Al Haynes' DC-10 incident.

How long would a pilot sit out before takin the line again assuming its not pilot error that caused the crash.

Would you ever want to take the line again after something like that?

Would you have to go back to work even if you didnt want to?

thanks

Probably involve getting your medical back, first and foremost.

After the investigation is done (and the company doesn't nail you), you'll probably do a 'part 609' ride with the FAA to see if you're kosher to return to service.

Al haynes came and visited ERAU in DAB this week. he said he was back in 3 months and that was just because he had an inner ear problem and a concusion.

What's the difference between a part 609 ride and a part 709 ride?
