Well, I took the ASVABS this past Thursday for the A.F. Reserve. The goal was to get a General score of 55 for a Loadmaster spot.

My recruiter did not tell me to take an envelope with me, so I didn't get my results afterwards. I went for my Physical the next morning and a very helpful Master Sergeant volunteered to look it up for me. Right as I was about to go upstairs, he came out and yelled "57!"

Got the sheet a couple hours later:
M: 61 G:57 A: 59 E:49

Thanks to bullmastiff,PacMan4x4,and Naluryder for some excellent advice and support. It looks like I will probably leave for Basic in January.

I still have to go back for my physical, though. I didn't have proper documentation for my Kidney Stones.

Good timing! I just got off the phone with my Recruiter. He said that there is a Loadmaster spot open with the 94th Airlift Wing @ Dobbins. (Atlanta)

Anybody know anything about the group?

Good luck man.

Here's some advice:
Dont pay attention to the BS you will hear in Basic and Tech School. People are going to treat you like crap there. Things will be much better at your RESERVE unit.

I did 4.5 years on active duty before transfering to the reserves at Homestead ARB, FL. And wow... the reserves are a breeze. Very eazy man.

Godspeed and good luck

Great job on getting your loadmaster slot. Air Force basic training is a piece of cake. Just keep your mouth shut and everyone will leave you alone. Let me know what training squadron you got after you get out of basic. I was in the 320th. They called in Alcatraz.

Hey 323d TRS here.
I forgot our name though... it's been a while.

Ryan, I fly out of PIE too. American Flying Adventures (FBO) to be more specific. How about you?

I am at National Aviation over in Air1. Well actually I am deployed overseas right now, hope to be back by the end of the month to finish the last half of my commercial. After that I am going to ATP to get my multi and CFI stuff. The folks over from flight shops is buying the school and I here that they do not hire newly minted CFI's so hopefully I get on with someone in the area when I get back from Jax with my CFI ratings. Is Han's still over there???

Yeah Hans is still here.. He owns the place.

I believe that Clearwater Avaition Academy (the father of all unethical business practices) is being bought out by FlightShops. Thank God!

Cool man. I just got my inst. cert and I'll be off to ATP at Stuart for the 90 day program in November.

That's awesome. I talked to Hans a couple of times when I did my private at Clearwater Aviation (worst decision I ever made). National Aviation is pretty good. We were supposed to get a C-182 G1000, but I guess that fell through.

See Ya

I wonder if that's why Flight Shops has no inventory, I stopped by to pick up charts recently (which they didn't have) and most of the shelves were bare.

A change in ownership at CAA would probably be a good thing.

How are the instructors and aircraft over at AFA?

Great news to hear and wish you the best at Basic. Didn't know you were going to consider the reserve route. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you getting a load master slot. Good luck JOEL

Hans had mentioned something about getting a 182 w/g1000. Last week he had one come over from Orlando Aircraft Sales. I believe he also made a movie on about it for his website. www.amfly.com

As for the aircraft there, they are descent. 2 152's, 1 warrior, 3 172's, and 3 senecas, a 1, 3, and 5.
I mainly fly the heck out of the warrior. It's a good plane w/ the garmin 430 and such.

Hans runs a pretty nice operation over ther at AFA. I looked at most of the flight schools there before starting my PPL and decided with AFA due to costs mainly.

I've only flown with two of their instructors, Mark Parisi and Tom Kerwin. Both of which are top notch. Very good instructors.

....and I went for the Physical and got PDQ'd.

Turns out I have 4 more kidney stones in my left one. Nice.

I went to see a Uroligist(sp?) today, and I might still have an option.
