Q's to IAH round 2

So whats the best guess on the time frame for next round of Saab upgrades. they should be running an upgrade class each month right?

It will happen. I, and many others don't have the time to upgrade. If the minimums are kept as they are, I'll be skipped over on the next bid as well.

I would have thought that by now you would have had the time Rob... I am sorry to hear that... everyone in my class that I can think of meets the upgrade mins..... and I am not saying that to rub it in anyone's face just stating reality.

I sat reserve for 2 years and averaged around 40hrs a month, then held stand ups for a few months and averaged 30hrs a month, now I'm holding over guarantee lines but have them taken away for IOE.

It'll happen when it happens. If we get a decent contract and my pay goes up by at least 50%, I'll be happy to wait another year. Currently it's not the "I want PIC and I demand upgrade!" going through my head, it's "I want to not live paycheck to paycheck."

This is 100% the correct attitude to have. The sooner we start to look at Colgan as anything but a "get in and get out" place the better it will be for everyone.

I agree with you 100%...

I agree with Rob, I am not in a tremendous hurry to upgrade, and looking forward to enjoying good schedules with some decent time off, a raise (hopefully) and perhaps even flying into some different "crappy little towns".

I don't know all of the deets in the mesaba contract. I would hope that there is either and existing or new rule in there stating that if FO's are bumped from their lines, they would get first pick at the open time, and not put on reserve. It's completely unfair to a lineholder to get a worse schedule than a newhire only becuase they were paired with a checkairman for a month. Even better, we should put something in the scheduling part of the contract forcing the training department to build "training" lines. The training department knows what's coming through the pipe two months in advance. There is no excuse for not planning ahead on their part. Rob, is the scheduling committee looking into something like this?

With the joint contract negotiations going on, any other side items like that, are on hold.

I have been pushing for the CA awards to come out a day before the FO awards. Then have the list have an asterisk next to all check airmen with a note saying that you may be removed for IOE while flying with those people. Then FOs have a chance to rebid for schedules that are not with those CAs. But it hasnt really had much momentum.
