Putting something in the comments section...

I'd like to add that if you are going to list a specific facility, please call them first and ask if they even have slots.

If they say they have been allotted no more slots for FY 2009, ask them about FY 2010. I promise you the ATM knows! They all got emails earlier this month with their numbers. If the receptionist routes you to personnel or human resources, request to speak to the ATM, because HR doesn't usually know.

If they say:
"We don't actually do the hiring so I don't know"
then say:
"I'd really like to go to your facility, but before I list you as a preference, I want to know if you have slots available"
Then they'll say:
"OOOOOOH! Why didn't you say that before!? In that case, we have X slots to fill."

I dunno :dunno: it worked for me.

FWIW I put indiana and put "ideal facility FWA" and I got FWA.... However I was pubnat1 so I think the choices where much greater then. Who else in the country wants FWA probably nobody but I lived here so I got real lucky be flexible but definatly ask for what you want or you will never get it.

This might sound like a stupid question, but what does ATM stand for? Air Traffic Manager?

Back when the Geo Prefs were done on paper I put down CA only and listed LGB, LAX, etc. on the side margin (there wasn't a designated box for comments). I got chosen for LAX although the application they looked at was a CTI announcement on the ASAP site. Who knows, maybe they still had that old paper where I wrote those facilities but probably not.

I put Fl and TX as my prefs and in the comments section i put I preferred RSW or PNS but would work anywhere in the US.

This is exactly what I posted in the comments section :

"(1) Orange County; (2) Brackett Field (POC) or Long Beach Municipal (LGB); (3) San Bernardino no further east than Ontario Int'l. I very much hope that one of these locations will work. Unfortunately, my options are limited as my wife is currently in pharmacy school, so we are committed to a rather specific area for the next 2-3 years. Thank you for your understanding!"

I got my TOL for LGB.

I disagree, I left the comment section blank, the more flexible you are the more likely it is you'll be picked up it seems. I left my comment section blank. I thought about putting "I'll go anywhere in the United States," but I didn't. That was the only thing I thought about putting in the comment section.

Be careful about what you put in there, you may just get what you ask for. There's a guy in my class who put, "I'd be willing to go anywhere, including Guam," in the comments section. Guess where he's headed to now?

Guam? LOL

Ouch...

My cousin taught at a school in guam for 2 years and she loved it. How much you like someplace depends on your attitude towards it. If you are negative about a place you will hate it, but if you are positive you will most likely enjoy it. I mean you would have your foot in the door and would be controlling traffic, right? How bad could it possibly be?

GUAM: Give Up And Masturbate.

You asked.....:D
