PUBNAT2 - FL residents

Hey Guys - Sorry I had to copy the other post for GA residents. I think I remember quite a few people stating they were from Florida or looking to come to a facility in FL. What area's have you guys picked. What facility's have you toured? A few weeks back I toured the Tampa facility. I was told that they just hired 30+ trainees this past year and they don't have much more room. They are close to the point of having the same amount of trainees as experienced controllers. The trainees there are taking over 4 years to check out. I also was told that they may be getting switched down to a level 10 from level 11. That has to kill morale. It was interesting seeing the facility as this was the first one I have visited. I wish the best for those guys.
 
I'm from NY but I used to live in FL and I put FL as my first choice. I really like all the areas of FL so I'm not really concerned where I would be placed. I specified Orange County and Broward County though. I'm a little worried that there isn't a lot of need in FL so I hope I don't get passed up because of that. I wish they would have a different way to chose that isn't a guessing game.
 
I live in FL and I pick FL & GA as my choices. I figured if I can't get FL, I can at least stay close to "home." I also chose the "Terminal Only" option. As much as I'd love to opportunity to be an ATC, if I didn't get what I wanted, then I guess I'll be sitting here doing Marketing in 2009!

I am a PUNAT1 person awaiting my FOL but I am also on the referral list for PUBNAT2. Towards the end of last year there was a Florida specific announcement that was opened up and that's why many of Florida facilities hired quite a few people.

I picked Fl (So Fla specifically) and selected Terminal and Center and was chosen for ZMA. I was shooting for PBI and FLL but I didn't want to take a chance of not getting picked at all and I am more than happy to move a little bit further south to work at ZMA. I was told that I'll be at the Academy around Jan 9th for ZMA. Most people steered clear of this place due to the horror stories about training, but thanks to my hurry up and wait experience gained in the Army I'm prepared to say the least. I can sit around for a while to get trained if that is still the case when I arrive.

Ima Georgia boy but my pops n em live in Ft. lauderdale I went to college in Florida and have family and friends spread about so FL was my first choice followed by GA

I picked FL and VA. The facility I want in FL is SFB. I lived there for awhile and my sister lives there still -it'd be nice to be close to her again.

The only reason I chose VA was because that's where I'm living right now (SO's active duty stationed here) and I was trying to keep the family together if at all possible. :P

Yep! I am a Florida Resident and Requested ID and CO. :D I hate to say it, but I can not wait to get out of florida, I miss the mountains and actually having 4 Different seasons, and believe it or not, I would much rather be cold than be in this heat all the time....:drool:
 
I am a FL native, born and raised :) for my Geo Prefs I listed CO and FL. Got selected for ZDV in CO. Heading to Academy Oct 2nd, can't wait to move out of FL. I would like the change of pace, be somewhere with seasons and something other than "Hot," and "Hotter." Also looking forward to being up in the mountains as I grew up hiking, white water rafting, and camping. Will be nice to be close to nice places to do all of that :)

It is funny it seems most of the Floridian natives are ready to get the hell away from this place. I am one of them.

I was born and raised near Jacksonville, my geo pref is Washington State, and Alaska. The farthest place from here, besides I need a change in climate for a bit. It also seems most facilities are still hiring, I spend alot of time at JAX tower just to hang out, and they are looking for people.

I like FL...even though the heat and humidity is deadly! I chose it as my first choice to see if I could stay close to "home" but GA is my next best option. I can't imagine living anywhere where is snows!! I just wouldn't go to work on the days it snow!! :laff:
 
Looks like there are a lot of requests for FL on this thread. I got a TOL for ZMA- Miami Center, and would gladly trade if someone wanted to swap me for it once you get your assigned locations... preferably looking for ZDV.

PM me if you're interested. I'm just waiting for my class date, which I'm told is probably Jan. at the earliest. I'd prefer to try and swap now, instead of waiting to get to my facility and transferring.
