PSA Rumor

Living the Dream (well at least trying to)
I heard a rumor PSA announced to the pilot group possible future aircraft acquisitions for future flying. Anyone have details or confirmation of such a rumor?

Man, don't swim in that crap. Believe it when you see planes on property, until then its just going to stir up a bunch of nonsense. Lets worry about surviving training and getting on line first.

They're going to offer a flow thru as a carrot to come work for a lower pay scale. Great thinking, and will most likely work. Sucks for those who aren't owned by the majors though. Maybe I can go to a wholly owned and start as an FO again to work my way up.

I'm sure there are some Eagle guys who have some negative opinions about flows (or at least I would assume from my limited knowledge) but at the same time there are guys at Compass and fMesaba types that might have a different opinion.

Bottom line: it better be a high percentage of every new hire class at mainline, and it should be a seniority number from day one.

I know you're new to the airline game, so let me give you a hand and get you up to speed; don't believe anything you hear, and only half of what you see.
Indeed. The funniest thing I have heard since coming to XJT is that the new contract will have $35/hr as the new first year pay.

Whoever floats these rumors normally wants something.

At least that's the way it works at my present employer and certainly my last.

I like the guy promising a flow for regionals. Make sure you copy Compass's language word for word whatever the cost. Don't pull a Mesaba and hedge your bets (unless you're in the topish 100)

Exactly. If they want what they're publicly saying they want (i.e. a Pinnacle contract) then they better also show folks the light at the end of the tunnel. They should define EXACTLY how long that tunnel is, and EXACTLY what's at the end of it, and be willing to put it in some pretty ironclad language.

Then people MIGHT be willing to have a conversation (emphasis on the MIGHT, and even then I kinda doubt it)

87% will vote in favor of the fog laden path. You don't need to offer them anything. Here's the funniest part, when Delta buys their next airline they won't need any pilots from the regionals (flows, SSP's, whatever) for another 3 years.

I'm not being satirical, it's just not necessary to give pilots a path for the future, we all think (me included) it will all work out and that little optimistic gene we have keeps us moving along to the next dance. Pinndeavor won't work out for me well but the next place will. I give up doing it the "right way", whatever that is anymore. Just get paid, make babies, raise them, and try to give them more than you got. If in the middle of all this I have a chance to shoot a few CEO's and get away with it I'll make you all proud. I don't think they are giving away "get out of jail free" cards anymore unless you're rich- and I ain't it.

I heard we're getting E-190's to fly for American. We're also taking some mainline flying from USAir in them. Heard it from a pretty solid source.
