Never said it was hard to fly them in the same day, just that flying-wise, they are two completely different airplanes. Its like flying a 172 and a seminole in the same day(if they had the same cockpit).

The issue would be going to take a PC in a 200 if you've exclusively been flying the 700/900 or vice versa. Not that big a deal but would be annoying to deal with.

The 200 and 700 have some similarities but are not the same plane. Thats like saying the 757 and 767 are the same plane. Bombardier almost completely redesigned the 700 because the 200 was such a POS. New wing, new tail, new landing gear, new flaps, FADEC, how in the world is that the same plane?

Because like the CRJ series, they share a common cockpit. There are some pilots that dispute whether the 757/767 should be a common type rating due to the differences.

Close, one ride can get you both types, but they are listed separately (and are different types) on the back of your cert. As far as I know, the CRJs all share the same rating.

Its the same deal with the BE-1900 and BE-300

In theory, say an old NW guy could only have a B-757 type and not a B-767 type

That's pretty common here. I took a 700 PT (granted it wasn't a PC) without having been in the actual airplane in over 3 months. I hadn't flown a 200 for 6 weeks before I took my last PC in it. It's not that bad. Sims don't fly like the real plane anyways.

From what I've heard our MEC told management that we're not playing that game and made them separate lists.

I doubt it was because of aircraft differences and had a lot more to do with staffing the aircraft.

At Amflight I could jump from the left seat (or right seat) in a Chieftain or Navajo, to the right seat in a King Air or Beech 99. It's also incredibly common for the company to keep people qualified as Beech 99 training captains while being Metro line pilots.

Wanna talk about differences? How about having to teach in an airplane you barely fly.

Huh? They are 85% the same. As far as I know the bleeds are different and a few minor differences. But that's it. You just have to know how to operate the bleeds on the 200 since they're all auto in the 700/900. As far as flying, yea you have less power but so what. I find it weird that ASA has done it that way since all multi fleet CRJ pilots that I know of train on the 200.
 
Did you even fly the 200 anywhere before you went to the evil side?

Systems wise the 200 and 700 are hardly the same airplane. There are MANY more differences beyond the bleeds and FADEC.
 
You push the power levers forward, count to 15, start pulling back on the yoke, and the paycheck comes in the mail every two weeks.

85% the same? Lord have mercy. Maybe as far as cockpit layout and flows they're 85% the same but overall? Absolutely not.

Haha yall can have that 200 man. That thing is too much work. Only thing good about that plane is that its very easy to land.

My better landings are in the 700 to be honest! Too much work? You flew an ATR right? :D "600 feet, autopilot on."
 
Those SWA guys and gals must be dangerous, going from the old steam gauge -300's to the glass cockpit -700's and back. Or Alaska, Continental, etc.?
