PSA phone interview

Yeah, makes sense. This is all new because I have never seen a situation where junior guys were upgrading because more senior ones didn't have enough flight time. That is uncharted territory.

Not really. There have been times in the past where guys didn't have their 250 hours of XC time and couldn't upgrade. There's been times where guys didn't have the required time at the company to meet insurance requirements and couldn't upgrade. This has most certainly happened before.

As Bob said, it certainly is not. The FO's senior to me were held back for months at Mesaba until vacancies popped up, and even then, they popped in front of me only as people left for the jet or other jobs. Until we started downgrading and parking planes I kept my QOL and the guys who were "super senior" to me (their words) were one downgrade class behind me.

Colgan had the same problem as street captains kept coming in with FO's qualified to fly left seat. Just be thankful you have a union who will give all the qualified FO's some sort of a chance before they start bringing in direct entry CA's. Once they are brought in, they get treated like real people too.

It'll be alright, this has all happened before, and it will all happen again.

We will see, there is a bid out for 50 upgrades in Nov and Dec. Some are guessing that upgrade drops to summer 2014 new hires, we will know in a week or so.
Jesus Christ. In a word, "impressive."

Anyway, moving on...

All this chatter is amusing. This is most certainly not the first time this has ever happened. In order for a FO to upgrade to Captain, there has to be an opening, its that simple. A senior FO has to wait to get his time and wait for an opening, then he can move to Captain. If all the Captain slots are filled with more junior Captains than the FO, that's just the way it works.

Yes, but for the Angry Eagle Mafia (which by the way, would be an awesome Redneck Country band name), straws must be grabbed.
