PSA Hiring...

Maybe they (PSA recruiters) saw this forum :)
I'm sure that they have. It's a moot point now, because I'm working @ G7 and am happy there. It's a good group of people there, and management is good too.

Coming out of school, it was my desire to work at either AX or G7. I know STL; I like it; and I have family here. Besides, they have Ted Drewes frozen custard here-yes! Nowhere else in the world has Ted Drewes; if you want Ted Drewes, you MUST be in STL! Anyway, for a variety of reasons, I wanted to be in STL, which meant being at either AX or G7; since I'm at G7, I'm happy.

I understand that the folks at my alma mater, Sheffield, monitor the forum. I know that Eric M. has posted on here before, though I don't think he's done so recently.

In any case, for whatever reason(s) PSA rejected me, it's moot. I'm working and am happy @ G7... :)

Wait where do you work?

You're much better off having never worked here. Not to say being a scab at G7 is any better, but it is, marginally so. Enjoy.

Compared to the electronics company where I used to work, it's like a Swiss watch in comparison; I'm serious! I dare say that even PSA would be better than my previous job. In any case, I'm in STL, which is where I want to be. That alone dictated working @ AX or G7, as they are the only two airlines based here.

Do you work @ PSA? Secondly, how can one be a scab at a non-union shop? I'm not trying to be a smart-ass; I'm genuinely curious, because I thought scabs were those who crossed the picket line. I wanted to work @ AX or G7 because I wanted to be in STL. If wants to be a DXer in STL, then G7 or AX are the only games in town...

CPZ used to work at PSA, but he's not there now. As far as GoJet goes, I'd just do a little research online to learn more about how and why they were founded and everything should become clear. The scab moniker appears to apply more to pilots there than other employee groups, though.

I did research online about GoJet's history, but that didn't turn up anything helpful. I talked to the guy who recruited me, and he gave me the best answer. Back in the early 2000s, Trans States Airlines had an exclusive contract with AA; they were forbidden from flying for another major. To get around that, the parent company founded GoJet, thus allowing them to work with United also. Since that time, AX flies for both AA & UA, while G7 flies for UA & DL. That's how and why G7 was started... :)

you won't find anything officially published without knowing what to look for most likely. it wouldn't be in official history, just in news articles and pilot forums where people who were there griped about what happened. it wasn't an exclusive contract issue but a scope clause issue, coupled with a management's poor relationship with the union. my understanding is management wanted to fly aircraft with more than 50 seats and couldn't make a deal with ALPA (the TSA union). so to get the larger aircraft they created gojet and then had the "gojet" pilots on staff request to be represented by a different union before they had an operating certificate. legal fights between ALPA and management along with some recruitment tactics to get TSA pilots to go to G7 led to the pilot war and bad blood.

Since this thread was active, I did some research and better understand the back story here...
