Looks like PSA is hiring, can anybody tell me about them? They have some horror stories on glassdoor, but they are all from 2012 so maybe things have changed.

Thanks

PSA is an ok place to start. However, management is having a hard time keeping people around. Dispatch department right now is something like 46% turnover rate and hardly anyone is even going to the majors. Most are going to cargo companies or even other regionals. The training there is very poor so if you have experience at another airline, you will be ok but if you're fresh out of school, you'll probably struggle as they don't teach you very much in training. From the time you start to the time you sit at a desk, it's MAYBE a month. For me, it was like 28 or 29 days. If you can ignore poor management, then you should be able to stay there until you can get a job at the majors. Good luck!

Don't waste your time. There are other regional's hiring that provide their dispatchers actual training and resources to do the job. PSA is not one of them.
And its one of the lowest paying at the moment...

When sh*t is hitting the fan and the airline is falling apart, this is PSA's dispatch Manager's reaction at 4PM

wow wow wow!!! Too gd funny. has everyone worked there on their way up?
The Waco comment was the best...or maybe the one about "your replacement in the pax seat!!! " I dunno..
You brought a little love the Occ this morning. Thanks Obama.

I dropped my name in the hat. If it's 121 experience, it's experience. It honestly can't be worse than wasting away at a 135 op.

Yup, this is a good way to look at it. You need the 121 experience to get to a major. I've been at more than one regional, and even if the boss is insufferable, it's far easier to get another job dispatching with 121 experience vs. no experience.

Burrito Bandito, if you can suffer the $14.45/hr then you will be okay. and If you can deal with a fire hose in the face, breakneck pace, after 2 weeks training, then you will be okay.
And if you can deal with a good old fashioned humiliation in front of everyone for some company rule that didn't exist 5 mins. prior, then you will okay.
Okay? You will definitely get tons of experience and move on. At least a half dozen (out of 24) are in the process of leaving or will leave in the next 3 weeks. Most with less than a year in.
I also worked a 135 with a super screaming a-hool boss. Paid better but like you point out , not 121. And as Manniax pointed out , you gonna run into this somewhere along the line, so might as well get it out of the way.
The good thing,... all the other dispatchers are super awesome to work with and everyone helps one another. We realize we are on our own without any management help and basically zero training, so we do the best we can with what we have.
They usually let the warm and fuzzy candidates come sit with a dispatcher for 30 mins or so (while they go smoke 15 cigs). But be sure to ask in the beginning of the interview what the schedule consists of and if you can sit in.
