Prowler crash

Cessnaflyer

Wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
Just heard there was a prowler crash in a few towns over. The smoke looks pretty heavy. Hopefully they were able to punch out to safety.

Not good.

On a related note, I didn't realize we were still flying Prowlers.

Not for a whole lot longer on the USN side, but I think the USMC are still on the hook for them for quite a number of years to come. Pretty sure VAQ-129 (apparently the mishap squadron here per the news reports) is giving up their Prowlers very soon to the Marines, and thus will be the end of the line for new Navy Prowler types.

WOW!!

I didn't either until a few years ago when I bumped into an old high school friend who's little brother flies one for the Marines up in Whidbey.

Very sad news.... RIP to those fallen and hope the best for the 4th, if one was on-board.

They very frequently fly with only 3 crewmembers, ie 1 pilot and 2 ECMO's. I'm not one to speculate, but it wouldn't be surprised if that was the entire crew.

It has happened before along these VR and IR routes, still sad for the families and military back at base losing brothers / sisters....VR1351 passes through that area.

That might be the one of the worst impacts I have ever seen. There is nothing! I cannot imagine why they didn't punch. Pretty safe to say That was a direct impact.
