I don't want GFK FSS to be shut down, I don't know if you guys heard about the privitization, and the fact that Princeton is going to be the FSS of the area, but honestly I enjoy walking in for a print out and a briefing, especially in the summer, good memories. Oh well there is a reason for it, and they were understaffed recently, but this sucks especially the fact that we have a high traffic school up here and we can use the GFK FSS.
 
At least you knew it was coming... A tornado took the roof off of Hulman FSS (Terre Haute, IN) and they shut it down for good.
 
Yeah I miss talking to Frosty at Grand Forks FSS - that guy was hilarious and fun to talk to. He seemed to love his job and always gave a very thorough wx briefing... not like some of the guys you get at Princeton - they make you feel rushed, but I just ask them everything I need to know regardless.

Wouldn't it be cool if UND took over the FSS and kept at least most of them arond. Could be our own private meteorologists :-P

ON a side note, I did see in that little piece of paper that is the "strategic plan" for the next few years that once that's closed they're thinkin about moving the sims up there so the instructors don't have to run back and forth between the airport and Ryan alll day.

That wouldn't be good for students. I think it'd benefit instructors more because often times the instructors go directly to Ryan from their homes.

Unless I'm wrong and most of the time they are coming directly from the airport to Ryan...
 
It would really suck for me if UND moved the flight sims out to the airport! I love being able to walk to Ryan at 9PM to do a sim flight without worrying about missing the shuttle etc. Lets do something more creative with the FSS building if its shutdown.
