Prolonged QT interval

hello there,

I was wondering if Prolonged QT is a disqualifying condition. Also, is the medication named Atenolol a disqualifying medication? I have an appt. with a cardiologist and i want to make sure he does not put me on any disqualifying drugs. Thank you in advance.

It will depend on why the QT is prolonged. Be sure the cardiologist dictates a report that contains the items listed in this link http://www.faa.gov/about/office_org...e/guide/dec_cons/disease_prot/cardiovascular/ as well as any other tests he deems appropriate.
Again, medications may be approved or disapproved depending on the reason they are prescribed. Just because a drug like atenolol is approved for hypertension does not mean it may be approved for a cardiac rhythm abnormaility.

Then it has to be evaluated by the cardiologist. The FAA may want cardiac electrophysiologic studies before they clear you.
