Professionalism...is sometimes lacking.

I refuse to read all 10 pages of this.. my point has already been said on here.. you were in the back complaining about someone banking an airplane. maybe he should have just clicked on the autopilot at 500 feet and forget the skill of hand flying.

If you read the first few of the 10 pages, you'll realize that's not all being said. It was the liftoff and post liftoff too, not just a bank, that were part of the question.

True, but I should have been clearer in my post. Most people say high descent rates are uncomfortable for pax. The truth is that if your body could tell the difference between 500 fpm and 3000fpm, we wouldn't need VSI's.

Well, it depends on the aircraft. Sometimes in the Beechcraft, you'd "catch the cabin" and there would be a pressurization bump.

If you throw out the slats, speed brakes, rolled back IAS to 280 and snapped the throttles back in the mad dog, you could yell "Tora! Tora! Tora!" and reliably reenact the profile of the attack of Pearl Harbor.

Fly the aircraft, keep it smooth and if planned properly (PUT THE DAMNED IPOD AWAY), you wouldn't be doing it in the first place.

My favorite is rolling up the speed intervene to about 320-330 if you're above path. :)

VNAV PATH - got it!
VNAV SPD - Keep an eyeball on it! :)

Hey, do you guys ever come in over the LENDY arrival?

Maaaybe...we're doing some civilian charter work out of JFK at the moment. Haven't personally done it though.

Wondering if you had the problem with your speed going all "cattywumpus" crossing LENDY.

I'll keep an eye out if I fly that line (missed it by one number this month, d'oh!). Only time I've seen the VNAV freak out and leave me completely hanging is Vegas.

on the GRNPA?

Into LAS, I generally just speed-intervene VNAV arrivals because after the effort of both you and the skipper staring at the speed window hoping that it does what it's supposed to do, it's just easier to mash/press/push/punch the speed-intervene button and put it where it's got to go.

It was one of those from the east...empty 757 completely left us high and dry; I made it, but it was close. :)

I find myself in speed intervene much of the time, or even dropping into FLCH and being done with the whole thing.

Yes! I did ANC-JFK a few weeks back and we got the LENDY6. Once we leveled at FL190 for LENDY the speed jumped up to 280 I think. We had put a hard 250/FL190 restriction in the FMC for LENDY but had already been slowed to 250. I had to reach up and speed intervene it back down to 250 real quick.

I think ours would jump to 320 then 170 or something like that.

All these damned NOTAMS and instead of fixing the issue, oh let's just write a few gigabytes of text about it.

SteveC I doubt u don't know what ur talking about but was I on the plane? No so most likely I don't know what I'm talking about. I do know we always try to make a flight as smooth as possible all the time. Ferry flights are always done by the book ;).. But they got u from point a to b safely did it lack professionalism in some manner? Maybe ? Only u can say .. MikeD I apologize for not reading all 10 pages and for any spelling errors while I type this on my phone.. Early show time tomorrow night JC
