so whats everyone wearing for the winter. I'll be sludging my way through the JFK Delta Connection ramp all winter and really need some suggestions for good boot/shoe to keep my feet dry. thinking some kind of boot, but what is considered acceptable and what is not???

p.s. whats with these kids coming up to my door without a costume and expecting candy???

No Costume = Lazy

I just wear my normal black airport friendly shoes all winter. Splashing around in puddles of glycol tends to wreck them so I have to get a new pair in the spring.

The worst was last winter when the airport parking lot go a layer of slush with a thin crust of ice on top. The slush melted under the ice and I kept breaking through into 3 inches of freezing water with every step I took. Plus I was trying to drag my bag and flight case through it. I *almost* waited for the bus that day.

I have a pair of ecco short boots that I wear in the winter... they are oooooo so comfy and great for sloshing around in Type IV. ;)

They kinda look like Acadia's Blundstones... but a bit more professional looking. That said... they aren't that bad with jeans on the overnight either.

Here's what I'm sporting in the arctic:

The Ariat Heritage Roper. Along with some good comfy socks, these keep my feet toasty even in 40 below! TSA friendly, too!

Don't you guys have to take off your shoes, too?

In every airport I've been through for the last year, TSA has told me that shoes HAD to go through x-ray.

One guy said, "well, it's optional, but if you opt not to put them through, we do a full search."

my work shoes are airport friendly...and it makes the visit with TSA go much faster.

Are these larger boots, etc. airport friendly too? Or are they all pretty much a must remove to get through security?
