Private done, on to Dallas!

Just sitting here at the apartments in JAX and discovered that I have an internet connection today somehow, so I thought I would drop an update on jetcareers.

Started the private program here at ATP in JAX back on July 5th and finished up last Monday... I still have about 25 hours to burn with x-country time but am hoping dispatch sends me out to Dallas and back tomorrow so I can get it done quickly and go back home to Denver for a few weeks. I have already done about 18 hours of x-country flying by running all over the southeast to get away from hurricanes which was a blast and one hell of a way to pop the IMC cherry.

I will be starting the 90-day in Dallas on Sept. 13 and am looking forward to getting set up down there. I just hope I can get a written or two out of the way before I get there. Any advice on which to do after the private? I am thinking commercial since it builds on the same bank of questions and then do the instrument after the comm?

Anyone on Jetcareers going to be in Dallas after 9/13? I know a group of you guys just finished (Tram, Smokey) congrats, I'm jealous! Also looking forward to meeting Captain Bob in person if he will still be instructing when I get there.

Does anyone have a link to the apartments in Dallas or pictures of them? Would love to get an idea of where I will be staying.

Tim:
congrats on your private! I'm in the middle of my xc's and I'm in JAX right now. Thought I might see you here but it looks as if you are gone already. I'm doing my citation ride today at some point and then back to Dallas. I originally signed up to do the ACPP in JAX but after talking to a few people decided on Dallas instead and let me tell you it was a great decision everyone in Dallas is great. I ran into a student on my xc's named Brooke who trained at MCAir at Jeffco. She is doing her training in JAX so you have probably met her. It's funny that all three of us have flown at McAir and are now at ATP. You will probably be arriving in Dallas right when I'm leaving but hopefully I will catch you at some point. good luck

Great to hear!

As far as Brooke goes, yeah I know her just a tad. She is my fiance's sister and currently my roommate, small world huh?

I am actually still here in Danforth waiting for dispatch to send me somewhere to burn about 20 hours of xc off but since it is after 15:00 I think I will head to the movies with some of the other guys.

I remember you saying a while back that you picked Jax and then switched to Dallas. I actually did the same thing about a week into my private, I decided that FL wasn't for me and I needed to get as close to Denver as possible, not to mention I heard so many great things about Dallas and even talked to Captain Bob about it too who completely sold me.

What are you looking at doing after you finish the program? Got anything lined up already or going for a spot at ATP?

I am in Danforth at 1004 and should be around till at least Tuesday next week, if you are around, drop by, would be nice to put a face to the name.

Have fun on the citation, see ya later!

Tim, stop by the CFI classroom sometime and say hi. I'm here for the week in CFI school (actually with one of your roomates). Anyhow, we're pretty board back there sometimes.

Yeah, I still need to find Walt to get him to sign my logbook from my Checkride. I didn't know we are supposed to get the DE to sign it, I was under the impression that it was like any other PIC flight? Anyway, will try to stop by there tomorrow. Hopefully I can get in the air and burn some time off before I leave next week.

There isn't a requiringment for the DE to sign off on your checkride. As long as you've got your peice of paper you are good to go. It is a PIC ride (congrats by the way for getting to the point of being able to log PIC!) and it in your log book it only needs to be logged as such. I have DE signoffs for my Private (ME and SE) and my Multi Com. My IRA doesn't have one. No biggie.

Tim,

The first couple tests I completed were the IRA and FII. With the private and instrument knowledge learned, studying for the commercial written has been ridiculously easy. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
