Printing your LogTen logbook

I'm looking for input on a good way to print out a logbook from LogTen so that is aesthetically pleasing for interviews. Anyone know where a good place to get it bound or anything else interviewers have said about the way you've done it?

Thanks a bunch for any input.

It was certainly overkill, but I bought a leather binder and fancy paper and printed my logbook for my first round of interviews. I bought the stuff from logbook solutions.

If I had to do it again, I would probably do the same thing. It looked professional, and was one less thing to worry about. Other guys just printed their logbook and put it in a binder, and they got the job as well.

You are usually asked to bring a bunch of photocopies of other documents. My recommendation, bring all of the required documents in a folder, in order. I also brought a folder with extra copies. I had a resume that was printed on fancy paper for each person on the interview panel with a single page summary of my flight experience.

More than anything else, I feel that I looked like I was interested in the job that I was applying for, and that I took the interview seriously. Overkill, probably. But I got offers everywhere that I applied.

Any of you guys transition from paper to log ten pro? Don't want to hijack but I'm wondering if anyone used a transcription service.

Any, advice is appreciated [emoji4]

I'm following this as I am about to print out my logbook for an interview as well (hitting "submit" on the app today after I check everything over...). The only leather binder cover I found had huge lettering on the front, which I didn't much care for. I wish I could find one that was a little more subtle, but I haven't ruled out ordering that one. I probably need to do it now if go that route. I am trying to decide between that and just getting it bound at Staples, etc with the nicest binding option I can find.

@Cazadores - yes, I just finished getting all of my stuff into LogTen Pro. Two logbooks' worth (1500 hours). It was a royal PITA, but I did it myself. I started some time ago and set a goal of 6 pages per day, and I usually split that up and did 3 early in the day and 3 late. That made it a bit more tolerable. I do have a couple of minor differences in totals that don't add up (and a complete trip I missed except the departure leg, thank goodness that one was in my plane so I had the hours tracked in the aircraft log) - so I'm going to need to amend my paper log.

Good luck!

I have been looking at options as well, and what I think I am going to do is go to Kinkos and print my logbook, and have it spiral bound.

I just picked this up and the screw extenders, they have a cheaper brown version if color doesn't matter to you. It seems comparable to Logbooksoltions.com binder and cheaper. I will get my pages printed at a Kinkos and hole punch them myself. No idea if it will work as intended, will report back if I get good results.

I transferred 3000 hours of paper logbook to Logten in about a year on overnights, long sits, and some time at home. I log each individual leg so that took a little longer.

I printed mine on green paper from FedEx Office. They have covers and bind it for you. They also said it was a few bucks for unbinding and adding more pages.

It worked for me in my interview. The interviewer actually was asking about the whole process of transferring and where I got it printed etc.

This. Works great, last long time.

I agree with the FedEx office option, except I used nice white resume style paper rather than green, I think it looks better. They have lots of options for covers and such as well. I used this method to interview at 2 major airlines and was hired by both. I honestly think as long as it looks decent and professional they don't care too much.

@kaudbron - thank you so much for the Amazon binder tip. I ordered the black binder and screw extenders, it should be arriving today. I can report back on results once I get the logbook printed and in the binder, as well!

No problems, mine showed up via Prime today. It looks like its going to work great. It is definately not leather bound more like a canvas but should work well if I can hole punch my printed paper properly

@kaudbron mine did as well! I was surprised it was more of a linen/canvas cover, but it still looks very nice! You are correct, just have to get the paper punched perfectly so it lays flat and even.

I just picked mine up from Kinkos today. Ordered it this morning and it was ready within a few hours. I will take some pics so you guys can get an idea. It looks really nice, and I even did it on green paper so it looks very Jepp like.

Why does every report from LTP leave a massive amount of white space at the bottom of each page? I've tried generating reports using the Jeppesen one, ASA, and Coradine's own report. Each one leaves about 3" or so of white space at the bottom, yet at the top it's pretty close (less than 1/2"). Anyone else have this issue? I'm using the letter size option (not A4), and wanting to print on the special Logbook Solutions paper.

I did the FedEx Office thing as well. Worked great and was reasonably priced...I'd recommend.

When I made the switch from paper to LTP I transcribed about 3000 (don't remember anymore) hours of flights, leg by leg. It was a long, painful process. But, in my opinion, the end result was well worth it.

Also, here's another example of how it doesn't always export the same. The page on the left is the same as above, but the one on the right is when I exported my entire logbook. Both are right pages from the logbook, and should look the same.

This is how mine came out from FedEx. I guess I have lots of space above and below on mine too but I bet it probably has something to do with the size of the paper versus how many columns. I printed mine out using the Jepp Professional template, and this paper is as long but it is wider than the Jepp Pro.
