Price Increase again

"Well now that de727ups has posted in here, thats my cue to leave this thread forever."

Why is that? I love it when ACPPer's are willing to argue facts. I just spent some time at the ATP website looking for where they say "jet training with airline pilot instructors". Haven't found it yet. I'll keep looking if you want. But I've read it. Anyhow, when they say stuff like that they pretty much need to make it happen with the slowtation. Which they do. I'm just saying it's a marketing gimmick more than any sort of practical training in a jet.

What a vicious cycle...desperation at the regionals, shortage of CFIs, lots of kids with rich parents or willing to take out a mortgage for this training....what is going to happen when the bottom falls out? I had really considered going to the reserves to try and get one of those super-dooper seniority numbers but now I am really thinking that is a horrible idea. I'm thinking; retire, do the CFI thing (hell, in 5 years the pay should be about 60K, right? :sarcasm: ) and by god do something flying related that has NOTHING to do with an RJ!!! I see this "hiring boom" going the same way as real estate has...down the tubes.

You know DE727UPS, I appreciate your "vision" and "devils advocate" approach. I know you catch a lot of slack for your opinions, but I think it REALLY helps to keep people "in check". It is a shame that people get so wrapped around the axle that they can't see the forest for the trees, and your opinion (no matter how opinionated it may be) helps to keep it on the level.

"I know you catch a lot of slack for your opinions"

I do? No way....

Honestly, I think it's a shame how folks critical of ATP get beat up at this forum. I'm a mod at another forum and the ATP threads are a lot different there.

I'm not one to much worry about "slack", either, since I understand that most of those who get upset about what I say about the 90 day program have little experience outside of ATP or in the industry (Capt Bob execpted).

I can't find the reference I was referring to in my previous post. I think maybe ATP changed their website, which would have been a good move. Anyhow, my only argument is with the 90 day program and some of the marketing stuff. I'll leave it at that.

I dont understand the fuel excuse...I know its high, but at my home airport fuel prices have been dropping......Maybe its just who they get their fuel from I guess.....But 3.77 isnt THAT bad for fuel, but i know its still outrageous...

"But 3.77 isnt THAT bad for fuel"

Holy crap, where is that? I thought it was more like $5. Glad I can burn car gas....

2M8, its run by the Memphis Airport Authority...They do a good job over there and also at M01....Nice people, clean airport and cheap gas! Filled up 26 gals. today for around $100, its still outrageous but nontheless, cheaper than anywhere else around here

"agreed 727ups is a rofl ... LATE"

Hey dude, I know where you pump gas. I used to run a flying club there in the early 80's.

The only person who really ever gets "beat up" is you.

What have you contributed to this thread? A troll post about the price of the citation ride, completely unsolicited and off-topic. Consistently the rudest and most sarcastic and off-topic unsolicited comments are made by...you.

A troll is a troll, no matter what position they take on an issue. But no wait...you're the poor little victim because we don't like your "facts"...sure.

Well, I must say DE727 is about the only one that still puts up with the drivel that comes out of some of you. Most of us just try to look the other way or just avoid the ATP forum altogether. I know I just visit this forum for a good laugh; don't worry, I do the same thing at FI in the regional forum...enough entertainment for weeks at both places.

Thanks Don for keeping the good discussions going through all the kool-aid drinkers opinions.

I guess ATP will still get enough students. They are short on instructors with a lot of students in the pipe. It's the best thing to increase their prices now...look at Skymates, Ariben etc. they are all looking for flight instructors. But up to now they are refusing to increase their prices. Increasing the price could mean better pay for instructors. That isn't a bad thing at all.
If you ask me - Ariben etc. will increase their prices within the next months. Fuelprice up or down. Study economics....after all it's a business. In these times the prices have to go up.

Greets

All increasing prices do is increase profit margins.

I'm pretty damn doubtful that any of the schools right now - considering the traditional ownership greed - will ever increase starting, and max instructor pay.

Wow. Just....wow. ATP is turning into the very flight school I avoided when I was looking for somewhere to get my ratings. Unbelievable.

Whatever happened to plain old, down right flight instruction? Why incorporate the Barbie-Jet (I like that term) course? Why get "D-Jets"?? I think its stupid. Stick with old school training guys, Cessna's and Piper's. What the hell is wrong with that?

Now the price is so damn high, its not worth it. And if they truely are going to pay their instructors $3k a month, I'm leaving Colgan and going back to ATP. Seriously, if a CFI can make 3x what a Regional FO makes, where's the incentive to leave to said Regional?

I'm disappointed with the direction ATP has been moving lately. Very disappointed. I was very proud of the school I went to, anymore, might as well put DCA and ATP in the same class, just different category. Waay too much debt to be starting a career at the Regional Airlines...holy hell.

No doubt - the flight schools owners will try to put as much money as possible into their own pocket. I was not talking about a generous idea of flight school owners "Oh - I think it's time to pay our instructors better" - I was talking about loosing students if you don't have enough instructors. Or if the instructors doesn't have the right quality.
However...we'll see what happens - but I'm sure that the flightschools will increase their prices. If a CFI sees some more money...who know. But at least threr would be more money in the game.

If you guys can't have a civil discussion, go play Nintendo.

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to look at AVGAS prices and figure out how they correspond to price increases industry-wide.

Who's not playing nice? The pro-ATP vs. DE727 crowd?

:)

Yeah, Avgas drives the price to a certain extent. . .but 55k, in my opinion, is at the least 10k MORE than what it costs comparatively across the country.

But hey, It's ATP.
