PRIA Question

Will a busted Oral Exam at a 121 carrier show up on a PRIA? Do you consider a busted Oral a failed checkride OR training event? If your carrier has AQP, is it (busted ORAL) reported to the FAA?

Also, I've been discussing this question with a few people now and most of them said a SIC is not a type rating, it is a training endorsement (I agree with that), and therefore you can not get a pink slip if you bust, as pink slips are only issued by DPEs/FAA guys, however a PIC type is a checkride and you can get pinked for that.

Thx!

Fess up. What happened.
I'd say a busted oral would show up on a PRIA inquiry.
All of our SIC rating rides are done by a DPE or FAA and result in a temp certificate with your new SIC rating.

I wouldn't worry about it. Besides, most airlines are going to ask in the interview if you have ever busted a training event anyway. Then, you have the opportunity to turn a negative into a positive! Tell them what you learned from the experience and how it made you a better pilot and employee.

I'm not going to play the "Ive got a secret" game. It will come out eiher way. I always disclose it on the application and during the interview. It was my own fault. I didn't study and prepare, because I was upset I had to transition again just to get furloughed 2 weeks later. Half of my transition class didn't even show for ground school. I was just curious what people consider a failed checkride, and if the Oral counts? I've emailed my airlines Training manager and can't even get a response or a hold of him.

You had a furlough scheduled for two weeks after a transition class?

They actually do that?!

I don't even know what to say!

I found out I was getting furloughed the day before Thanksgiving and got my official furlough letter 2 days before Xmas! Lots of displacements and transition training was happening. Captains were busting Orals and failing checkrides left and right, because they didn't want to go back to the right seat. The FlightSafety building was a pretty sad place to be. By the time I did transition training (again), finished IOE (again), I think I flew one or two trips before getting furloughed. Half of the guys in my class didn't want to put up with that BS, a couple senior people talked crew planning into staying on the equipment, a few others took unpaid personal leave until furlough. I think there were 4 of us in ground school in the end.

With a PRIA, the former employer must submit your training records. This will include you're 8410 check ride form which will indicate when the check ride was stopped for retraining and why, or if you actually failed a portion of the check ride. You should have been given a copy of this after the check ride. You can read that copy to see what was written, because that is what will be returned on the PRIA.

Edit: Also, I would say an SIC is a type as it shows up on the back of your new pilot certificate.

In my opinion the FAA has really messed up with this Pria stuff, how can you disclose your training record to your new employer if your don't really know what's going to show up in a search? If you do a Pria on yourself all there is the confirmation that you're actually a licensed pilot. There was nothing on there about training records. The new bill that they're passing says that you can check all they've got on you for a small fee.

An oral is part of a checking event, so, I'd say it's a Unsat.

Just be upfront and it's NBD.

Your current 121 training record will be forwarded to new employers, and if you use CrewTrac software, a "U" will appear next to that event. No big deal at all!
