Presidential TFR's a real pain

Me either, but do you really think thats going to solve the TFR problem?

Perhaps it won't make a difference for him to be voted out. That remains to be seen. The president has at least some control over his security forces, and someone a little brighter might be able to make the connection that the TFR does not increase his security, yet it does make a big mess for the FAA, and the flying public.

Of course, I am just

I would count the airports that will be shut down, but it would be too depressing....

looks like 41? Go Bush! (get out of office)

Re: Graphic of the Presidential TFR today. UGH

Keep in mind that those TFRs aren't simulataneous... I watched a few Cessna's take off out of BTL just a few minutes ago (as well as some Citations and Lears and King Airs).

I thought you guys were exempt from the TFRs?

Re: Graphic of the Presidential TFR today. UGH

We are, but they still were vectoring us around them. Then they wouldn't climb us to our filed cruising altitude, and we asked why, they said "because." Seriously. We checked on with one controller, he said "expect higher in 2 miles." Well as we crossed the lakeshore on the east side, what, 40 miles later, we're like WTF? Plus all flying out there was strictly normal routing. Another thing which was weird was that whenever approach would vector someone around a TFR, they said "turn blah blah blah for airspace/restriction/conflict", never "for TFR." Just seemed odd to me.

Re: Graphic of the Presidential TFR today. UGH

Definitely sounds messed up. I don't get it. People can fly 10 seconds away from the White House (DCA) and yet they'll vector you all over the place from a moving bus?

Saga continues for Iowa and Wisconsin

[ QUOTE ]
BUSH TO VISIT DUBUQUE, LA CROSSE ON BUS TOUR FRIDAY
AOPA is sending this message to advise pilots in and near Iowa and
Wisconsin that President Bush will be continuing his multi-state bus
tour on Friday, May 7. AOPA is imploring pilots to exercise extreme
caution.

Bush is scheduled to start the tour in Dubuque, Iowa, at roughly
8:30 a.m. local and finish the tour in La Crosse, Wisconsin, around
8 p.m. local on Friday. There will likely be a 10-nautical-mile-radius
general aviation no-fly zone, extending to 18,000 feet, that will move
along with the president's bus. AOPA is also anticipating larger
30-nm-radius temporary flight restrictions (TFRs) for the president's
arrival and departure.

[/ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
Because TFR airspace frequently changes, AOPA strongly encourages
pilots to obtain a briefing and CHECK NOTAMS before every flight. TFR
violators will be intercepted and forced to land.
