I'm sort of confused, I see, and take part in, all these posts about what school who where how long what do you think any ideas blah blah blah. Isn't there a Thread pinned to the top for those kinds of questions? I'm all for helping out throwing some advice and personal accounts, but it seems lately that the threads are mainly people who are not dispatchers posting about how to do this or that. I can't speak for others, but I enjoy this forum for seeing people post jobs, ask questions about Dispatch related things, and share experiences. It seems to be turning into noob hub. Any view from the Moderators? Again, all the stuff Pre-Dispatch related has a thread pinned to the top, does every feeling need a separate thread?

I feel like this is aimed toward me because I am a "noob" and put up a new thread not too long ago :(. I thought about putting my post in a reply to one of the pinned threads, but I was looking for information pertaining to a specific geographic region (YYZ) and I'm guessing that not every person who visits this forum consistently reads the newbie thread. By making my own thread and putting YYZ in the title, it is more likely to attract the attention of someone on here who might have the information I need (ie...someone who is familiar with the job situation in Ontario). If it was more generic information I was looking for, I would have posted in the pinned thread instead.

My family is not well off (I took a break from my career to be home with my children while they were young, and we live in an expensive place on one income), so for me $4,500+ USD is a lot of money to spend. I want to make sure I am making the most informed decision possible, given my specific circumstances. I visited a dispatch school and they told me all sorts of positive things, but they also would love for me to spend my money there, so I feel like I am going to get more honest information in a place like this. I'm sure other newbies feel the same way.

Dilly dilly!

Im somewhat of a noob, but i already got my license in October.Yeah some of the super noob questions are getting annoying though. I would prefer hearing more about jobs and from current dispatchers. I guess the noobs are just really excited and anxious,so they post a lot.Im not trying to name names ,but I think one or two non dispatchers are the ones asking all the questions.

No one replies to the new dispatcher thread because of hardly anyone, 1. reads it, 2. Post there.

I have mixed feelings. Some of the threads/posts are borderline trollish, but most seem honest. I can see why this is a place to ask questions and start threads while looking for a job or getting your certificate because there are not many other community-based resources out there. Heck, I was that person a few years ago.

Discussion is worthwhile if it leads somewhere.

I agree with you. And when I was trying to get my cert and finish up my classes I knew to read more and post less. I also knew how to use the search function.

You are one noob who made one thread. I think this was directed at other new folks who flood every thread every single day.

I guess I can be considered a "noob" here for dispatch, but I have been in or around the aviation industry for as long as I have been a member on Jetcareers. I think some need to realize everything they type can and will be read by others and could affect them offline. What you say on here CAN affect your employment prospects and can cost you your job after you are hired........

For the most part I think these people know who they are and have been warned. Maybe a few PMs from the more experienced rather than public admonishment is the better course. *JMHO*

From the home page:
There are plenty of commercial sources of information about careers in aviation, however I saw a need for a source of information made by professional pilots for future pilots and others that are interested in a "behind the scenes" perspective.

The whole purpose of this website is that it is a place where newbies and wanna-be's can come to learn from experienced professionals, and where veterans can pass along "what I wish I had known" information to the next generation. If you want to benefit from the former, you ought to be willing to supply the latter.

This will be the punishment for too many threads created by a noob
