Practice approaches in VFR

In SoCal approach clears the pilot for the vfr practice approach and then tower will give inital missed instructions and then we'll contact approach again on the same beacon code.
 
Yeah, we get a lot of requests to fly the published missed, for training purposes. Often, this is approved to VFR aircraft since they are not automatically authorized to fly the published missed. IFR aircraft are always authorized to fly the publish missed.

In either case, alternate missed approach instructions are usually given unless the pilot wants to fly the PM for practice/training purposes.
