PPL Written

I got around to taking my written today. I've been a little tardy doing it, but I did alright on it. So now I can start studying for the other ones pre ATP entry.

For some reason I had a bunch of problems taking it. First off, I went last friday (after my instructor told me I didn't need to make an appointment) and was told that I have to register ahead of time to take them. So I scheduled for today, and showed up... But there was no instructors availible. So I sat in the FBO for awhile and listened to some guy talk about what a pain it is to fly out of an airport under the DC TFR. Anyhow, an instructor eventually shows up and sets me up on one of the lasergrade machines. I start the test and get to question 6 or 7 which requires an wind direction calculation. So I reach for my trusty EB6... but wait. The slide wheel part isn't on it. All I have is the background card! The wheel must have fallen off in my flight bag. Thankfully, the software comes with a built in flight computer. How cool is that. The moral of that story is that I am DEFINATLY getting an electric EB6 sometime soon. It is so much easier to use. As if that wasn't enough stress, I finished my test and hit the exit button... and the computer crashes. Well, actually the monitor died when it tried to change screen resolutions. The instructor that I had worked with didn't know what to do so he got his boss. Who made a lot of grunting sounds and said that had to change the monitor. And they had to turn off the computer to do it. Well, I've never turned off my computer to change a monitor.... but what ever. He said he "hoped" that my test would be saved and turned off the power.

Yeah I had problems with Lasergrade as well for my PPL... mainly, 50% of all the problems were answered before I even started to take the exam. Long story short, I was given a fresh set of problems from Lasergrade, and this time, there was no problem.

Done in 24 minutes, but being who I am, I triple-checked each question, so it actually took one hour.

Scored a fairly respectable 92. I missed one on the length of time you have before reporting an accident. I said 7 days. It appears to be 10. I missed one on Weight and Balance. I forgot how to come up with the number of inches that the CG moves. I missed one on density altitude. Still not sure why. Oh well.

Yep, when I took the written through laser, the connection to the printer was out of whack, so I couln't get my print out. Fortunately they were able to sent my print out to the chief flight instructor at my school, and I was able to get it a couple hours later. Had me kind of worried though.

ahhh the PPL Written, i remember that from back in day. Got a 92% on it i think. It's funny because the ground school system at ERAU makes it impossible to fail the written. You have to take a million other tests exactly like it and are required to pass them before they even let you touch the written lol, so by the time u get there ur like, damn this is easy compared to the riddle ones lol. Anyways, it was a nice thing to get done with...just did my INST one a week ago.... >_< got a 75% but hey its passing lol
