How could you, they change everyday... The dive organizations (PADI,NAUI, SSI, etc.) still say 12 hrs, but DAN now says 24. Personally I stick to 24...

I know this comes from the Comair academy guys, but what does it mean? I read it once, but don't remember.
Working on the MEI, so SMACFUM works for me. Aircraft manufacturers determine Vmc based on conditions set by the FAA under FAR part 23:
Standard day conditions
Maximum power on the operating engine
Aft legal center of gravity
Critical engine prop windmilling
Flaps in takeoff position, Gear up
Up to 5* bank into the operating engine
Maximum Takeoff weight at sea level
VD MONA, that was cool.

Yes you can. Every stage check or DE ride I have been in, I was able to look up stuff I didn't know or explain right.

I'll agree with Iruppert... you sure can use books during your oral. The trick is to know most of it without looking, and that other 15-20 percent that you're not sure on, make sure you know where to look. My advice... keep all those books out of sight. Only bring them out if you need them, it'll make you look more confident to a DPE, but at the same time you won't be shooting yourself in the foot by not having the books.

Marker Beacons (tested and on, if req)
Identify Navaid
Course set
Entry (vectors, hold, etc)
Altitudes (step downs, MDA, DH)
Time (if needed)
Missed Approach point and instructions
As far as using books in the Oral, take your FAR/AIM into the oral. If you get stumped, just make sure you know where to find the answer. I wouldn't make it a habit, but at least the DE knows you know where to look.
