Help is on the way!

I've reached an agreement with my dedicated server babysitter for a upgrade. So in the next week or so, you'll be seeing better performance on the website.

Woo!

Well, I never complain about the temperature in somebody elses house, BUT . . .

it was gettin' kinda slow!!!:rawk:

We're going from a Celeron 1300 with 256Mb (don't laugh!) to a Pentium IV 2.8 Ghz with 512Mb.

Gotta sell some more ads! ;)

Sounds good the server has been sucking some serious wind.

Doug can you or will you still accept donations to help cover your costs? I for one would be happy to chip in.

Being that servers run hellaciously graphic-intense programs... :)

Nah, I don't house the server myself, it's a leased server with babysitters.

We thought about running the server ourselves... for about two seconds.

Hmm, go out to the store and buy a steak? Or buy a calf, raise it, immunize, feed, water, slaughter, age, butcher and then cook it.... Hmm...

it actually wouldn't be so bad if you could get an affordable line, I have an idea a leased line would run more than your coloc, I don't think I could even get one here.

Many moons ago I worked for an ISP that shared an office with a newspaper, they had a couple apple servers, LOL

It should be coming online early this week. They're going to "mirror" the new one with data from this one, I'll unleash the "Samsonite Gorilla" on it, if it works, they'll tinker with the DNS and we're off and running!

I just had a problem with the DNS for my site. They had parked on another server for some damn reason, and I couldn't ftp my site. And through all my fiddling I discovered my server is actually in Scottsdale, AZ go figure. I'm actually going to switch, I've had nothing but problems with GoDaddy.com. Sure it's like $3.95, but they just suck.

Godaddy is right across the street from where my PO box is!

Our server is physically in Chicago.

Not yet, no.

They were supposed to have a test server set up today, but probably a combination of the holidays plus my enthusiasm at signing the new contract probably pushed it back a couple of days.

Huh. the site is definitely running better for me this evening. I normally have lots of pauses between pages. For whatever reason it is running quite well at my end tonight.
