Polarized sunglasses in CRJ and E170/175

Anybody use polarized glasses in these two types? Any thoughts? I ask because the only lenses I can get for my sunglasses now are polarized since the frames were discontinued. I've read what the different sites say on polarized in aviation, so I'm just curious if anyone has any personal experience.

Thanks.

Can't speak for the CRJ but I was unable to wear polarized glasses in the ERJ. The Airbus was also no. They work fine in the 75/76. It just depends. Sometimes it's not just the screens that you have issues with it's the windows themselves especially on the ERJ.

I tried them out in the E170/175 and I could barely see the screens. I had to buy a pair of non-polarized for flying and save the polarized for the car only.

On the E170/175 with polarized sunglasses the screens will appear black and the windows will have funky weird colors

The -145 windshields got a little psychedelic from time to time. No, or fewer, issues on its older, shorter and better-looking sister (120).

I got a bit of a rainbow effect in the CRJ series, but nothing that I found to be a problem. The screens showed up just fine for me too. These were curved wrap around style lenses though, not straight lenses like most sunglasses, so that may have something to do with it. Also have no issue in the caravan seeing the Garmins either.

No problems with multiple different pairs of polarized in both types of planes.

I think there has to be a case-by-case thing with polarized glasses...I've never had a problem with any pair.

Thanks Nick, what brand do you use if you dont mind me asking? I've been using Oakleys, and I've always been really happy with them.

I continually just buy new pairs every year or two or whenever I need to, and just pick the best looking/feeling $20ish dollar pair off the rack at a grocery store or sunglasses kiosk in a mall etc. I've never invested in a good pair that's more than that because I feel like I will not treat them well enough. I also tend to not really have them on in flight unless we're below about FL180 on the way in or out, when it's truly time to look outside a lot. I figure I have them on about 3 hours per month in the airplane.

had the oil slick affect on the Saab windshield, the E170/175, they go completely black (due to the LCD screens, they aren't CRT)

I switched to some Rayban's non polarized off ebay

At the risk of necro-posting, any recommendations for some decent aviators that are on the smaller side of things?

I use the Persol 3046-s, polarized. Work fine in the 340, not in the 330 (LCDs). Funky windshield but not a problem. Small form factor, fantastic lenses. Otherwise I like the L.G.R. brand, very stylish, fantastic lenses (I'm a lens fanatic). Both of them are a bit on the pricy side but hey, it's your eyes.
