PNCL's new CEO

And perhaps your MEC can say "Oooh, maybe we need a spanky new contract to attract more suitable candidates!" :)

I'm available on a contract basis, but I want to be a street captain and upper $100's to low $200's with at least 15 days off per month.

I'll even wear my hat.

I'm cautiously optimistic. Then again, I'm also in the "Well, he can't be any worse than the last guy" camp. If he doesn't lie right to my face he's already improved. PT did that on a couple of occasions. Sad thing is, I don't know if it was intentional or if he just didn't have a clue what was going on at his own company.

I did read Sean's letter, and immediately thought "Hey, his first day sounds a lot like my last two four days. Welcome to Pinnacle."

As for hiring, I talked to one of the guys that does hiring the other day. In a nutshell, we're up a creek without a paddle. The insurance company won't let them lower hiring minimums to Eagle's level, and the guys with higher times are either already at other carriers or don't wanna do the regional dance. So, we're left with either guys that WANT to be based out of MEM, MSP, ATL, DTW or JFK (not a WHOLE lot of those guys), the college bridge programs (which doesn't pump out the numbers we need to keep up with attrition alone) or guys that other airlines won't hire.

What if we told them only Mesaba would hire and train them. 67 years and no accidents has to count for something.

Fairly convinced the Pinnacolaba train is running off the tracks.

How are they getting away with hiring WMU guys then with wet commercials? Is it because the agreement was in place before the insurance companies imposed the new higher mins?

I am forming a severe dislike for insurance companies. They take the fun out of everything. I fly for one too. Go figure.

Would it matter? Who's the holding company on the insurance card...

Split us off, give us all the airplanes, end the Colgan AND Pinnacle name. The monkey for CEO.

"I don't know what happened sir. First Delta sold us, then our buying company couldn't staff us, next thing I knew I was in this HVAC tech class because I went on furlough."

Did you guys see that Pinnacle hired the former Frontier CFO to be ours? I want to know the direction that they are going to take us. I think the BOD and the new management team see the writing on the wall that they are going to have to change course in some way shape or form. A lot of people think they may try to aquire frontier, thats a little far fetched but not too far off. I think this new CEO is a go getter, and I think he is going to change the face of this airline.

How would you guys feel if they did something crazy like purchase frontier off of republic?

I think we'd have a mass exodus of investors. I think Pinnacle would run into the ground even faster. If something like that were to happen I'd think it's the same clown shoes, just different clowns.

Am I the only one who thinks an airline run by people who want to run a successful airline, vice run a pyramid scam that uses airplanes to attract investors, could kick some serious tail?

Midwest is gone man. This is industry is corporate welfare at it's finest.

Unfortunately the field is full full full!! There's not a lot, if any room for expansion of a low cost carrier at this point. Plus the big guys have such deep pockets they could easily bleed us into oblivion without feeling any pain if we were to take them on. I don't know what the plan is, but i do feel that our new CEO is of a diff caliber than what we're used to.

Who knows though, i've been wrong before and will probably be wrong again!

Don't worry. Most of the "big guys" don't have the mental capacity to do that! :) They'd be too busy trying to negotiate a codeshare with you and certain unions would be more than happy to look the other way to make it happen! :)

Pinnacle Airlines Corp. said today it expects to report a loss of 10 cents to 20 cents a share Thursday for the second quarter of 2011.

The company said its operating subsidiaries, Pinnacle, Mesaba and Colgan, incurred higher costs for pilot wages because of a new agreement with the Air Line Pilots Association and changes in crew scheduling to accommodate code-share partners.

It also blamed higher fuel expenses and more operating performance penalties, mainly because of the crew reallocation.

-Love, Sean

The fact of the matter is that all the costs incurred as a part of the merger related to contract costs were a known quantity. Unless these guys are planning some kind of sham bankruptcy filing. The board of directors knew whether or not they could afford the contract, were aware of certificate integration costs, code-share plans, etc...It's sounds like "smoke and mirrors" finger-pointing to me...

Eh.... Sean had nothing to do with the second quarter at Pinnacle.

Exactly.

I am eager to see the final report and see just how much was lost due to "crew relocation" and how much was paid out for penalties due to cancelled flights.

He may have had nothing to do with the qtr, but hes in charge now, and in charge of the media machine that will put out anti pilot media. How do you think the non pilot employees will view the pilots, when it keeps seeming that the pilots are just to darn expensive, otherwise everything would be peachy. Ive seen this same game before, dont get to comfortable with your ceo who is so much everyones friend that he just goes by his first name.

It never fails to amaze (and, ok, amuse) me that otherwise sane people can sit down across from a guy in a $3000 suit and decide in ten seconds that he's "just a regular, good guy" because he goes by "Joe".

That's a nickname, suckers. On his home planet he goes by Niflanthaplextor, and human babyflesh is his favorite appetizer.

Very well put.

Nothing wrong with the name Joe.

I can't tell you how many people I have suckered by me wearing a suit.

I'll say this: my check from the displacement was almost TWICE what my bonus check was from the contract. That should tell you something. Still haven't heard if we avoided that ginormous payout due to not making performance targets. Last I heard, it was down to the wire. Then nothing. I'm guessing that means we paid Daddy Delta a good chunk of change. Hardly the pilots fault for there not being enough of us. Although I noticed ole' Shockey is still tooting the "unplanned absences" horn. Someone needs to either muzzle him or fire him if they want this company to get back on the rails.....

And Boris, I actually watched They Live the other night.....
