Modern, I remember those when I was very small! Not something you put on you dad though!

I am sorry to hear about the situation your family is in.

It must be very difficult to see your father go through this. My prayers are with you and your family.

Kristie,Doug sorry to hear about family situation. Reading this thread seriously made me think of A Beautiful Mind Please let me know if there might be anything that I might be able to do?

He's doing really good today! Hopefully it keeps up so Kristie will finally get another decent night of sleep!

Kristi,
My suggestion is to talk with the social worker assigned to your father. This person should help you fill out the forms needed for a power of attorney and anyother forms needed. I'm sure they have been in contact with you since I have been very busy at school this week and this thread is days old. Is your father in the psych facility as a voluntary or in-voluntary admission? I find it very scary that your father was able to walk out of the hospital with a sitter (AKA The sleeper) at bedside.
Sorry to hear you are going through this. Look into support groups around where you live, contact the local VA hospital. They seem to have the best info on support groups. Hospice agencies also are great resources. I know it sounds odd to talk about hospice, but they do more for people then the public knows about.

Good luck with your situation

Amy and I pray that all is well with your dad, he should get some good treatment where he is at. Amy's dad had his second triple-bypass surgery in Fairfax, VA and he's still out there working those John Deeres like nothing's ever happened.

If you ever need a place to stay ... Amy and I are only an hour and a half away up in the eastern panhandle of WV. It may be distant, but it's free

And don't worry, she's from VA and I'm from DE, so we're not born and bred West Virginians

Kristie And Doug,

I understand that this is a very hard time for you both as well as the rest of your family. First off, thank god your father is alright:)

My own mother was going through a mid life some few years ago.....and still even today battles with depression. It's quite a battle My mom attempted suicide several times before being on a medication that really helps.........turns out a chemical imbalence runs rampant in our family.

I have 5 brothers and we all nurtured the hurt during that time with eachother. We ran through many emotions during this time, alot of anger. We were angry at her at ourselves at everything...it's also a very vulnerable time to realize your parents......the one's who raised you really don't have all the awnsers........and that's a frightning thing no matter how old you are.

If either one of you would like someone to talk to............who has some expierience in this area Please don't hesitate to talk to me. I have some reflection now and understanding of the subject.

And please accept my families prayers........things can get better.
