According to a friend of mine who still works there, it was an IR flight. I don't know what they were doing all the way up there if it was an IR flight. I'll ask him to come on here and clear up any speculation.
I think several of us who worked there in the past saw this coming "again". I remember attending the memorial of the last instructor like it was yesterday. I left that place when the new CEO/GM came in and cut everyone's pay. We were told, if you want the salary you were making, you have to hit 100 hours of logged time and that does not include your students solo time. Since he arrived at Pan-Am/Transpac, he has been pushing his instructors to fly their a$$ off. Money over safety....
I would think that China Southern Air and the other airlines that train there would pull there contract and send there pilots to another school. It is unfortunate, but this will happen again the way things are going over there.
