Exciting title, huh?

I don't know the guy, but I just wanted to point out this tidbit:

Dumovic may have been the best person to have on board the plane at the time of the emergency. He recently finished first in the SAFECON 2009 Power Off Landing competition -- a contest run through the National Intercollegiate Flying Association. The competition tests pilots on almost exactly what happened to Dumovic and his student passenger on Saturday morning.

Nice job Rob, you made all ex-NIFA competitors proud :)

Something to add to my Before Posting checklist:

"32) Look at the date the article was written."

:sitaware:

Hadn't seen that before. Definitely not a recent event, snowbanks aren't high enough...

I dont remember it happening either, and I drive on that road alot (there is a DQ and Handels right where he put down). Andy & Bill, can we add this as a fly in potential??

I thought I was an aviation dork.

Until I was at a recent SAFECON in San Diego.
I feel like a normal human being after seeing that gongshow.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I was a NIFA competitor when I was in college, and most of my teammates were total aviation nerds. There were a few exceptions. I, of course, was never like that ;).

See, I was one of those aviation nerds. And I'm dang proud of it! I've even got the national first place rec'er award to prove it :D

I got 4th in SCAN last year at nationals. I'm officially done with the aviation nerdery, though. Moving on to bigger and better things - in the great state of North Dakota, no less.
