Plane down in SW Michigan, 2 killed

RIP.

If you are going to be stupid that's fine, but for god sakes don't take a passenger with you!

Wait, where's the part of the article where it makes it clear that it was "definitely avoidable" and "clearly a poor judgment call on the part of the pilot"? Did I miss something? Seriously...

Preliminary NTSB report has been published on the NTSB website. As usual, a little early for any facts, so many factors could have been in play.

Also, freezing fog has been in the area all week. Temps have been just below freezing. Visibility has been poor, and ceilings were low.

So, wait, what? Because there was fog "in the area", this was "clearly avoidable"? Where I'm from it's customary to wait until the body is cold before you start kicking dirt on it. I'll say this for y'all, you're quick. The NTSB needs to start using crack Internet Crash Investigation Teams on these things...cut waaaaay back on the cost. Heck, we can solve it from our living rooms.

PS. NICE. FLIGHTSUIT.

I think there's a difference between "fog in the area" and "OMGZ 1/4SM FZFG everywhere within a 200 NM radius for 3 straight days". IIRC the accident occurred during a period of the latter.

Unsure if this was addressed at me at all, but that is why I left it as "...." Meaning I will fill that in when I know how to fill it in. Right now, I don't know.
