Plan the Route

Picking up a plane in Boca Raton, Florida and flying it back to Salt Lake City.

Any suggestions on the routing?

Thanks.

KMEI has free food, cheap gas, and a great FBO which makes it a great stopping point.

Piper Turbo Arrow. Should've clarified.

First (rough) glance -

KBCT-KMOB-KTYR-KRTN. Overnight in KRTN.

KRTN-KPGA-KSLC.

Should take about 15-18 hours in the air.

I dunno if the old hotdogs are worth it though... there is a great BBQ place down the street though which is exceptional.
Each time I've been in there they've had a crockpot full of goodies...And the hotdogs....and the icecream...mmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Looks fine to me.

Just curious, why overnight in RTN? There's nothing out there.

I've heard KAEG (Double Eagle) airport in Albuquerque is a nice place. That's where I'd go, just to be closer to civilization.

Distances work out a little better with RTN vs. ABQ.

There's plenty of hotels in RTN no it's not a biggie.

Fair enough. I always go to bigger, busier airports during long ferry flights because of the services available beyond hotels. Maintenance facilities, 24 hour FBO/line service/pilot lounge, courtesy/rental cars, and if things get really bad, easy airline service to leave the plane and get out of there.

That way if the plane starts breaking or the weather really heads south, I have a lot of options.

But the FBO at RTN sounds nice from the AirNav reviews, so you'll probably be fine.

Double Eagle is miles from anywhere. Without a crew car it sucks. Even with a car you're fighting what must be the world's worst drivers.

And Bode can kiss my ass. I know a lot of pilots who share that sentiment.

Good to know! I've never been there. Just had it recommended to me by other pilots for past trips I've taken.
