I interrupt my "continuous popcorn coverage" of the pay package threads and the Comey hearings to bring you this special popcorn bulletin.

No there really isn't. We are glorified highly paid bus drivers. The fact that you are even asking that question shows what is wrong with this industry. Hell they once taught monkeys to fly combat aircraft.
This may be the dumbest thing that I've read all morning and given the above enumerated goings-on, that's really saying something.

My ass would still be sitting in O'Hare from yesterday, if this were the attitude I took towards my job.

Study your history, the movie was based on a real study done by the Air Force.

Ok so in an effort to "Learn my history" The only reference I could find into the USAF trying to get monkeys to "fly combat aircraft" was from a horribly translated article from a chimp rescue site indicating that the movie was true. I did however pull up multiple (and already was familiar with) stories about how they sent chimps into space. The closest I could find anything related to the military doing anything with chimps and fighters was a little testing of the hyper sleds with them strapped into ejection seats to learn the effects of high velocity ejections. Not one article indicated that they tried getting them to fly. Perhaps you would grace us with these historical documents you alluded to so we may all be learned?

On travel at the moment but I'll find you some links. I learned about it in school, which was shortly after God created the animals but before some dude in a cave rubbed sticks together to create what would eventually become the Internet.

Where are you guys coming up with age 67 as in it actually being in the works? The airlines didnt want age 65 and the airlines nor the pilot unions want age 67, which would take an act of Congress.

Things are relatively "good" right now. Folks are moving up and into career type positions.

One, the aviation gods will not stand for this and we as a collective group are too squeamish to sacrifice the requisite number of chickens to satisfy said gods

Two; and this is the largest driving factor, ALPA and the top 30% of most ALPA carrier's seniority list will go out of their way to screw over those below them. History is rich with this.

Again, where are you getting any feedback that this is something that anyone is pushing for? ALPAs position is that there is no push for age 67.

Nothing official or hinted at. Just wait. Either the gods reach down and smite thee or your peers don't even bother with the reach around.

I dont know what that means, but like I said, since it requires an act of Congress, and there is no push for it, and since age 65 took almost 40 years to happen, and since most guys are leaving early or medicaling out before 65, I'm not overly concerned about 67. I think youll see a push from the airlines for MPL though, and there is little to stop that train from arriving.

Kidding aside.

Not "bad" per se. I should have put air quotes around peers sine a peer wouldn't step on the neck of another peer.

All I'm saying is, history repeats itself. This is a great time to be in aviation, especially if you have a bit of experience and we all should be "making hay" as best we can because the music will stop eventually.

It's either going to be some manufactured world crisis or as stated the top 30%ish screwing over those below them. It ain't gonna happen tomorrow or even next year but it will happen.
