Thanks for the good luck
just remember that Jet U is gonna fail ya in the end.
Um, no. More on this down a few paragraphs, keep reading.
And if you wanna compare difference in experience come up here to nodak and see what we deal with everyday.
Nodak? LOL! I group UND and ERAU as the same. I would never go to a aviation school to get my flight ratings, when I can do it much cheaper at local mom/pop FBOs.
It gives you a taste of what you are gonna get if you go to pinnacle.
Jet U is the only school in the USA that is specifically tailored towards Pinnacle. The only other school tailored for one airline alone is Mesa's MAPD.
If you think i am making inaccurate statements well i am not. Jet U paid UND about 500,000 dollars to use our sim because they didnt have one and well we are glad they are gone because we listened in on some of there sims and well you get what you pay for.
That might have been the case when the program first started, but now everyone I know is right here at FXE.
I know that you are prolly very new to flying since probably 9 months or so ago you started flying but heres the real deal very few places will hire you. If you stay with 9E(assuming you get hired and pass ground school and IOE) dont ever leave because you will not get a warm recpetion from most people and thats that. You can look at all of the comments posted by others about Jet U and they are all about the same.
Nice try, but I started flying in 2001. In this industry, it's all who you know.
You will only hear this on jetcareers forums and a few other online forums: "going to Jet U or Gulfstream (which is worse than Jet U, since that's directly buying a right seat job) ... will get you black listed!"
The truth is before 9/11, in the late 90s, people at Gulfstream Airlines (after having gone through Gulfstream Academy) would all get hired by majors, like Delta and UPS.
Now, it's ALL about WHO you know. There are 10-year RJ captains that can't even get an interview at Continental because they don't know anybody. And yet, a Gulfstream Academy kid, 25 yr old, got a job at Continental because he had inside connections. Gulfstream and Jet U people have gone on to majors.
Surprisingly, the only people who told me not to go to Jet U were these people on jetcareers forums. I know many airline pilots, both regional and majors, who thought it was good what I was going to do (my chosen path). I took all that into consideration and made a decision.
Bottom line is everyone who states that 'going to Jet u or gulfstream will get you backlisted' is just plain BS.
It's all who you know at the majors if you want to move onto UPS, Fedex, Continental, Delta, etc.
The place is a joke and the quality of training is probably not up to what most would consider safe pilot decision making skill building.
The place is not a joke, it has great quality of training. The instructors are top notch from Airtran, UPS, and Pinnacle. A few retired airline pilots teach here, too. And contrary to your belief, you would be SURPRISED how many 1000-2000+ hour pilots are at Jet U for the CRJ course. With these guys, they haven't flown in a few years, so they decided to come here. NOT everyone is a wet commercial multi with 250 hours.
You will recieve no sympathy from me and well since your attitude on how the biz really works sucks(by the way my family been doing it since the 50's so i have a little insight on how things work) and two you apparent disregard to going to another airline to apply for other than the one associated by Jet U tends me to believe that you dont think you could apply to them for fear of not even being given an interview.
First of all, Pinnacle is my #1 choice due to wanting DTW Michigan. Home based is unbeatable, if you ask me. No commuting saves a hassle. Second, only reason I didn't apply to Pinnacle yet is I don't have the 'street' mins to apply. Go to Pinnacle's website, and you will see their street minimums (mine are lower, otherwise I would have applied). Pinnacle also lists a bunch of approved bridge programs and Jet U is one of them.
P.S. when Jet U was up here we had a huge laugh about the place just because they try to sell people the idea of becoming Airline pilots in a year and well thats jsut outright dangerous and really almost impossible to happen because on year of training is not going to give you the ability to fly a jet and for the few that do make it they will be hated on the line pretty bad.
A bunch of UND people laughed at Jet U? The same way others laugh at UND and Riddle students (TODAY, after 9/11) for spending thousands and thousands on your flight ratings, when you could do it at a fraction of a cost at a local FBO?
Again, you misunderstand Jet U. Their flight school portion just started in March this year.
No one has gone 0-9 months airline pilot, and I can tell you no one will. The weather is so bad here during the summer at FLL, that many people have their flight lessons/checkrides cancelled and rescheduled.
Everyone in the CRJ course has been flying for *years*. I know a guy with 1200 hours and one with 2000 hours total time. Both haven't flown in over five years, so they decided to come here.
There are a few 250-300 hr pilots, but Jet U is not the only school producing that. ATPs has had a few 300-hr pilots get on with Pinnacle through their 7 day RJ transition course.
Thats life for a Jet U pilot, good luck with that, and like i said when you go to another airline and pass there ground school and IOE and you send me that info I will retract my statement becasue I am willing to bet the farm.
You're still stuck in what I call the "jetcareer student brainwashed mentality" in which you truly believe that anyone going to Gulfstream or Jet U will never get further than Pinnacle or Gulfstream Airlines. Check your sources again, talk to ex-grads of Gulfstream and Pinnacle. I know two Gulfstream Academy folks who flew their 250 hrs on the Beech, got hired at Pinnacle, made captain, then went to Airtran when they had the mins. Some have gone to Continental. It's all who you know in todays world.
