Pinnacle???

"When a crewmember is scheduled to
deadhead on a regional jet (Part 121 or 135) he shall not
be scheduled for more than two and one-half (2 ½) total
block hours in a duty period unless there is no other
commercial service that would allow the crewmember to
report on time for his duty assignment. In such case, the
scheduled block can be increased to three and one-half (3
½) total hours in a duty period"

I think it has to do with the RJ comfort factor, and not with the experience level of the F/O's.

You're a trooper Don. I give you a lot of credit for continuing to battle with these people on here day in and day out. Someone should buy you a beer.

You are correct. However, it does limit my exposure to low experience regional pilots by the above language.

I dunno... the scariest jumpseat ride I've ever had wasn't on Mesa. It was a FedEx 727 and it had nothing to do with the plane being old.

I don't have to pay money if I wanted to go to PSA, TSA, or Piedmont. I already meet their minimums, which are basicaly C/I/ME and 250 hrs. I have a few ins that could easily get me an interview if I wanted.

And THAT is the attitude that is ticking people off. You think that just because you get the interview you are good to go. Sure, PSA, TSA and PDT are really hurting for pilots and are interviewing sub 400 hour guys, but if you go look in the new hire classes, you aren't going to find that too many got hired and even fewer getting through training. Great... you've got connections. Good for you. Why aren't you using them? Are you afraid that if you don't do your prep course you are going to bomb out of training? Interestingly enough (and Jeremy may be able to give a more accurate number) but many of the guys washing out are the ones that the sim evaluators DIDN'T recommend to begin with but got hired anyways.

Doesn't that bother you?

And I didn't cause that bar to be lowered. I don't even have to take an RJ course to work for those three airlines with my low time.

One word - Troll.

Okay, what the hell is that all about?

Trying to rub in your networking contacts into this debate too?

Don't be arrogant. It'll get you no-where. No matter who your contacts are.

You took this out of context. What I meant by 'doesn't it bother you' is that they are now hiring 250 hr f/os with a wet C/I/ME at PSA, TSA, and Piedmont. That's what I meant by 'doesn't that bother you?'

Anyway, I'm done here. No more fighting about PFT, cause it's happened before, and it gets nowhere.

Beer time.

hey guys, I just got my PPL and I want to fly a jet with air conditioning because I heard thats where the money is... Where do I sign up? :bandit:

I will only go if I can fly the -900 from the beginning! That plane is soo cool I will pay them to let me fly it around! All the cool people are doing it!

*I am having just wayyyy too much fun right now! I love days off!:rawk:

On a side note I did just get my first line of choice over here at 9E- less than a year in and I get what I want... sweet! only 8 nights away from home next month!

I'm going to start a new airline. And my pilots will pay for their own training, and then each of them will have a monthly fee that will go towards leasing the aircraft. BUT, everyone will get quality JET time!!! It will only cost each pilot $20,000 per year - BUT think of ALL of that JET time you could get in a year!! You could practically walk into a Major airline job.

I'll call the new airline - American Idiots. :buck:

And the best part is, I'll establish an agreement with Gulfstream and JetU, and together we will guarantee them a JOB upon completion of their training. Their payment will be in the sum of $22/day so that they may eat. In addition to their flying duties, they must also clean the airplane after every day, to ensure the next crew gets a clean airplane.

I'll be accepting applications starting at 6am tomorrow. Please send them via e-mail with a proper cover page to skypilot03@comcast.net

Only if I can be a CA from day 1 and a check airman too...

They're not the only ones. You have to figure that about half of the regionals are hiring heartbeats right now to fill seats. If only the flying public knew.

My wife likes your avatar.

No I know. I know they are not the only ones doing it. It was said in jest. :)

I'm kinda curious about the answer to a question asked earlier.

Cherokee, why are you spending all the money on JetU if you could get hired at PSA, PDT, etc? Seems kinda, well, silly to me.

You keep saying that it's "scary" that the minimums at some places are down to 250 hours, but using the logic from other posts, if these 250 hour guys pass training, haven't they "earned" the right to be FOs? Some of them probably didn't even do a transition course! Blasphemy!

There is no magic number that says "Okay, you're ready for the regionals now," but there's very, VERY little chance that someone with under 500 hours is gonna be ready for that level. By ready I mean a valuable part of the crew as an FO should be, not a seat warmer/gear puller that's just biding his time until his seniority number comes up for upgrade.

Sure, these 250 hour wonders don't need transition courses to get hired, but I don't really think the transition courses increase your knowledge that much as a pilot anyway. They get you through training, and that is IT. You're getting no more knowledge or experience than you would have anyway. All you're doing is paying for a fast track ticket because airline management wants bodies in the seats, and the more experienced guys won't work for peanuts anymore.

Hmmm...can you read speak and write the English language? Do you have a PPL with an IRA?

If you answered yes to either question above - hired!

Well I think I have the ratings covered... but for payment do you take starbucks gift cards? I have a bunch of those...

I could care less where someone went to flight school. As long as they are a competent crewmember when they get to MY level, I don't care. Newbies out there, go and get whatever YOU think you need in order to get ahead with your career. Don't let other's opinions sway you.
