Pinnacle will NOT be at the event

For those of you that were looking forward to meeting representatives from Pinnacle, they will not be attending.

I'm not very happy about this.

Like I said early, sorry our HR people flaked on ya. Sadly, this is more or less the norm. Agree to something.....then once they think about it might actually cost money, they're go back on their word. If they've already screwed you over by backing out, I can go back to not holding my tongue. I was kinda playing things on the down low since you were trying to get them there. If they've burned the bridge, though.....

Luckily, my hair's already short so I couldn't get the leverage to pull it out.

As someone who spent over five years dealing directly with Pinnacle management incompetence and general all-around scumminess, this surprises me not one bit.

I don't know if I wanted the thread to go there, but I'm taking this really personal because I'm a type of guy that takes people at their word.

Maybe I'm the last of the altruists or something, but PT Barnum made a few prophetic quotes about my type.

I don't know. I guess I'd better go grab some chow with Kristie and lighten up a little.

It SHOULD be that you can take people at their word. Unfortunately, some people's word is pretty much worthless. Pinnacle's missing a golden opportunity to meet with some top notch talent, so it's their loss. Hopefully, one of the other employers will step up to the plate, though.

Here's to hoping they get to read about their negative publicity. :D

Fair contract, Pinnacle... won't even be up front about that, will ya...

Nah. No negative neutrons folks. They're good people, but probably the person who controls the coin purse doesn't understand truly what our mission is at JC.

Oh well, I'd say perhaps in 2011 but unless there's some manna from the heavens in October, this might be all, folks! :)

Waaay too much work for a nearly 40 year old that likes to get out of bed around 11am, BBQ, drink beer, hang out with my wife without talking business, and be in bed by midnight.

The hours that are going into planning this event, heck, I don't think I worked this hard on anything.

Personally, I think you should be allowed to do just that. :D

Me too! :)

Cab fares, jumpseating around the country, hotels, cellular minutes, emails that fall into the abyss, running the cordless phone out of juice, working lunches, MORE jumpseating, handshaking, credit card credit extensions (this crap is expensive to throw), marketing, facebook ads, google ads, printing, augh. All I'm asking for is a single day.

Back on the road tomorrow, a couple of calls scheduled with people and hopefully my Skype works in Rome and Belgium because I'll be making phone calls from Europe.

Aye.

And that's not even counting on how hard Kristie is hustling on this too. She's been 20 hours of "free" labor everyday where any other person would have probably demanded a salary or said, "I quit!" but she's a believer in what we're trying to do.

If you love your spouse, do NOT try to plan a medium-scale career event without an event planner.

BUT we're not making the kind of cheddar to hire one :( Hell, with the steep decrease in ad revenue, a good portion of the server lease is out of pocket. Thank goodness for "BID MAX CREDIT" instructions in PBS.

Hell, yet again, I've said far too much! :)

Pinnacle management wouldn't know how to tell the truth if they tried. A bigger bunch of scumbags would be hard to find.

Nah, let's not go there either.

I just have to realize that if you're not a big name or sinking hundreds of thousands of dollars into event planning, some organizations just may not take you seriously to the point to doing what it takes to send a rep out.

I know that if I did HR for an airline and I had a guy that would do the busy work and collect positive, qualified and people cheerful to work for my organization and display them on a silver platter for me, I'd be all over it because it's going to save me time and ultimately money.

All I need is one or two recruiters from the company, a couple of you guys who work there on their flank and whammo, we're in business.

Ultimately, they're going to miss out having a great time with some great people and meeting some fantastic, positive, "pay it forward"-believin' new employees.

The trick is to treat the recruiters from various companies that show up like royalty. These recruiters will tell the other recruiters, from the other companies, that didn't show up how great a time they had. The recruiters all know each other from the job fair circuit and more would likely want to come next year if you decide to try it again. It sucks, but that's how it works from my understanding. You're doing a fantastic job in my opinion by the way.

Even that other organization that we're both members of had low turn out from companies this time around. The job fair portion of the event was really small this year.;)

Let me know if you haven't heard anything back from my company.

I really hope this isn't the last. I just got here, and cant get there this year.

Certainly was, they even closed up shop a couple hours early on Friday, I was pretty shocked. You know how we roll man, I'm not ashamed the event is in Las Vegas, mix a little bit of business with pleasure, we all have a good time.

Let me know if you haven't heard anything back from my company.

Got a conference call set up today! ;) Will let you know how it goes.
