Pinnacle Purchases Colgan Air

Well, the rumor around here (and one posted article dated yesterday that I can't seem to find on the web) is that Colgan is getting the Q400s. To make it worse for us PCL guys, the money we got from NWA as a settlement for OUR ASA with them is what's being used to get them! I don't have a thing against the Colgan pilots, but this is BS if management is gonna use money that Pinnacle made with NWA flying to grow another airline while telling us they can't afford to give us raises over here.....

Yeah, I agree that it's complete BS if they give you all the line that they can't afford a pay raise after throwing down cash to purchase another company!

I'm still waiting for the PCL ALPA guys to come over and pass out cards???

Word over here is that our guys are anxious to talk to your guys. I think the current plan is to try to get Colgan guys on the existing seniority list. EVERY union rep I've talked to has been adamant about not stapling anyone to the bottom of the list, too. That way the scope clause we've already got in the contract is honored, we get to keep our flying, you get to keep your flying and everyone is more or less happy. I know our MEC is meeting with ALPA legal soon to talk about this and what to do next.

The general concensus over here is that the Colgan pilots are now part of our family. You guys are more or less the new kid that just got adopted, and we're the wiser, older kid that's already been taking the abuse that wants to pass on advise and maybe a little protection.

This is still gonna be a "wait and see what happens" deal, but we've got to do what we can to protect ALL of the pilots while hanging on to the scope we have.

I agree. We all benefit from a combined seniority.

Oh man. You're gonna have Jet U guys and Gulfstream guys screaming bloody murder that they didn't pay all that money to get hired at PCL with no experience just to get put behind a lowly prop job guy who doesn't even fly jets...

Will this allow jumping from company to company if on one list? and if so does that mean all new hires will be pushed to tprops? (I don't have a problem with that, I want/hope to fly a tprop!)

I doubt it. There'll probably be some fences put up to protect both the Colgan and Pinnacle guys. If you could jump back and forth, Colgan would lose TONS of guys since there are guys here that would have the time and seniority to bid TP CA ahead of them. One of the reasons a lot of guys go to Colgan is for the quick upgrade. Take that away by letting some of our guys jump, and there's gonna be a throw down. The big joke with some guys right now is "When can I bid IAH?"

True dat!

How long does upgrade run at PCL?

Right now anywhere from 2-3 years depending on your TT. I'll technically be close to upgrade by the end of the year (If I wanted to switch bases), but I won't have the TT until sometime next summer, which would be right around 2 years for me. Rumot is management wants to lower the TT requirement, though.

I heard the 1800TT req is now on the paper for future vacancies, although I have seen no official memo on it. Supposedly the "planners" realized that the 3000TT was going to become a big barrier in the upcoming future. They are shorthanded so they are needing to find some kind of solution. They seem to even be short on FO's- and I am in MEM! I was screw scheduling's redheaded stepchild the other day!

Damn, that sucks. We were coming in today, and my CA said "Damn, we're prime candidates for an extension." I said, "No. YOU are. I'll have 29 hours and 58 minutes in 7 days once we hit the ground. They can't TOUCH me." :)

If they reduce it to 1800, I might be in the ball park for upgrade around Dec this year/Jan next year if I wanna got to DTW or MSP. Probably be closer to next summer, though, since I'd rather stay MEM based. I knew the 3000TT was gonna be a barrier. No brainer when you hire 250-500TT FOs, really. :)
