Pinnacle base swap rumor

Word on the street is is that if the Delta Deal goes through with US Air - Pinnacle may close MSP and open a LGA base. Basically this would confim Managements desire to never fly on the western half of the us. I would feel for all the MSP guys who live in base and all of the west coast commuters but also I would feel for myself as i would not be able to hold on to my captain seat living in base with the associated displacement.

Compass pilots think they are getting based out there too, removing the MEM base.

Weird.

This is how i think its going to go down
LGA - S5,CZ,9e,OH
ATL - EV,9E,OO
SLC - OO,XJ
MSP - CZ,XJ,OO
DTW - 9E, CZ, XJ, OH
MEM - 9E,XJ,EV
CVG - F9, OH

Is this bases you are talking about or just flying? I really doubt Comair will open any new bases. The DCI flying is too unpredictable and I know for a fact Comair won't open any bases unless it is guaranteed. One of reasons we never opened a BOS base. The only thing I could see happening for us at Comair is maybe a co-domicile JFK/LGA, but that's about it.

There have been a lot of rumors surrounding which DCI carrier will fly and open a LGA base. I know for a fact that Delta wants 2-class service out of LGA (E170s/CRJ900s), but looking at some of the scheduling bulletins for Spring 2010, it still looks like a good mix of flying out of LGA between XJ, PNCL and OH.

Welcome to DCI! You have to be very flexible and things change on a weekly basis!

Yeah I hadn't heard about this one yet. Would the DOJ really let Delta eat US Air? Or I guess more to the point, is Delta trying to see how many airlines they can purchase with really angry employee groups?

Nah, it's not Delta eating US Air. US Air is swapping gates in LGA for gates in DCA. Delta's beefing up in NYC and shrinking in DC. I don't see why the DOJ would really need to step in since there's not really any kind of merger involved. The only real difference is flights being operated by US Airways would be operated by Delta and vice versa. To me, the government should just stay out of it.

Pilotlight, unless you're in the bottom 6 CAs in MEM (it's occurred to me I don't even know which one of us poor unfortunate souls you are), I'd be getting pushed out right along with ya. But hey. That just means I get to move back to MCO (if I'm gonna be forced to commute, I'm gonna live somewhere I WANT to live) and the company can pay for it.

I got to figure most people in MSP would go to ATL or DTW but i dont know i guess we should just wait and see if it even happens.

I had no idea about the gates, I thought there was merger talk.

Everyone here seems to think MSP is on the chopping block. It seems to me that ATL is more likely. Especially based on the wording of the latest update from CS. Not that it means anything.

YA know, there is a way to end the bickering about who is going to go where, but you aren't going to like it. Basically it goes like this:

ATL- All mainline
JFK - All mainline
LGA - All mainline
SLC - All mainline
LAX - All mainline
MSP - All mainline
DTW - All mainline
MEM - All mainline
CVG - All mainline

:D

Yeah, I know, who sold who's scope out. Please spare me the diatribes.

Well - someday, you guys will have it all back (I hope)...

Why do you think we wouldn't like it?

Take it the hell back, I'm not stopping you

Diatribe- yes this is mainlines fault.

There was also a rumor last month that Pinnacle was starting new hire classes starting January. Don't know if base swap will need more staffing.
