The stupidity of carrying around a piece of paper hit me a few weeks ago when I realised I needed it and didn't have it. A few states are gonna start issuing digital ID's soon. It can't be that hard for the FAA to put my cert and medical in my apple or google wallet. Throw in the FCC permit while we're at it. How's that for paperwork reduction?

If you're given a ticket you unlock your phone and give it to the cops? How does that work?

No idea, it hasn't happened yet. I haven't had a ticket in like 15 yrs. thankfully. It an app from ADOT, I got it because I didn't want to get shot by the police, reaching for my wallet. Even if I informed them of what I was doing. Should I ever get pulled over, then yeah. I'll log into the app and have it ready and waiting for the cop(s) when they approach. I think that their is a qr code that they can scan on the app, so that they don't have to take your phone.

The actions don't seen much different to me. Reaching for a phone or reaching for a wallet. I too haven't been pulled over in years but when I did I just had the wallet sitting on the dash waiting.

I use a wallet I got from Welcome to SPEC-OPS BRAND | SPEC-OPS BRAND ... their products have served me very, very, VERY well over the years. My wallet appears to be not manufactured anymore, but it's a checkbook-style wallet, and it holds everything very nicely. The "sharkbite" closure is literally perfect.
It looks like all their products are out of stock on their website, but it appears they can now be ordered through Amazon.
Not sure if they're made in the US anymore. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0029XE5IY/ is an example.

Don't know the status of the company or products, but everything I've gotten from them has lasted forever.
