Pilot resume for a low time CSEL

Well THIS is awkward!
Sorry if this is in the wrong place. But I figure since I’m trying go from cubicle slave to paid pilot this area would be as good as any.



Hi I’m wondering how to go about getting a pilot’s resume setup for someone with little or no experience. Is there any format that I should follow? Should my hours be totaled up as if I would be stating them on a 8710 (ex. so many for night flight, day, xc, etc.) Should I also put work experience in there even though it may not be in line for a position that I’m applying for?


And yes I know wanting to be a "paid pilot" can be a oxymoron in this industry too.

You should focus your resume towards the type of flying job you are looking for. Since a low time CSEL pilot doesn't have too many options these days, you should really get your CFI and put together a "CFI" version of your resume. Mention where you did the bulk of your training, and gear your qualifications towards your ability to manage situations, lead, and the professionalism you gained at your desk job.
 
@the OP. I'll be happy to throw you a blacked out version of my resume that was passed down to me and then filled in, if you want it. That made my life much easier, and I have no problem paying it forward. You could just make the changes accordingly.

The CFI plan is on hold for the time being. Right now my office gig is looking to relocate people to PHX. I have decided to jump at the opportunity to move. So I really don't know what my living situation is going to be between here and if/when I move which I will find out in June or so. Once I know what my situation on that front is going to be then I will go for my CFI. Plus I figure it would cost more cash to start my CFI only to put it on hold to move and start it all over again.

As far as the resume I would like to get something going on that front. Especially if a good opportunity does come up. Granted a good low time opportunity coming up will be unlikely but it's always good to have your ducks in a row :).
 
Not to hijack this thread, but it would be well suited. I am a CFI -- (working on CFII/MEI). Graduated from Embry Riddle in 98' and have been in the corporate non-aviation world since. My target is eventually corporate aviation, how should I list my executive pro experience?

Anyone out there in this situation and have a resume example?

I have a pretty good biz exec resume, but needs to be really thinned out for flying
 
Here's a sample of a format I found that works well. If you have only non-flying jobs as then list their positive and leadership qualities and you responsibilites for managing others.
