Pilot cadet program

I can understand that to an extent for the aircraft they fly. Engines on the wings certainly make some emergency procedure a bit of a pain. Especially with T-Props. Recent multi experience can help in the training.

Personally I don't think it is as big of a deal for a CRJ/EMB-145. The aerodynamics of a plane with engines on the tail are closer to single line thrust than not.

Tell your friend to try out cargo and get some more recent experience under his belt. Would definitely be better than spending money on redoing his ratings or possibly instructing.

There really would be nothing more foolish at this point than to spend money on redoing ratings for an interview at SkyWest. No regional is worth that. Hell, they aren't worth the current cost of admission.

That said, I'm sure there will be an "adjustment" due to "supply" and "demand" — it's just a question of when.

Fair enough, do you think maybe it would make us dummies out here who are aimlessly applying, know what that "company policy" is?
The term 1500 fixed wing an 1500tt are used interchangeably throughout the website so how can one be sure what the requirements are without asking?

Seems like a bad time to be picky with applicants. Don't ya think?
I don't know how things are done at the east side, but I don't think it's ever a bad time to be at least somewhat choosy with the folks entrusted with several million dollars of metal and anywhere between 30-70 lives.

I'm not saying "Hey, you guys should be picking up the guy that has three felony DUI's." But if he meets the minimum requirements, doesn't have a questionable background, and does well in the interview...

It's very odd how picky the regionals can be. I've seen some pretty desperate regionals turn down some high time but qualified pilots.

Plus I think some of the regionals uber technical interviews are somewhat insulting. Studying for, traveling to and wearing your sunday best to interview for a less than $28k job. I'm pretty sure I can stroll in to the local Home Depot with ripped jeans and a big beard and score a decent gig.

Plus, I don't want to shave everyday for sub 45k. It's a very strange industry to me. YMMV

I get a 5 o'clock shadow at 0900.

Incidentally, I don't think I was ever asked anything out of line, technically, at a regional interview (includes Eagle, XJT, and SkyWest). Of course, if you come in acting like you know the Brasilia (hint: you don't), you're gonna have trouble.
