Piedmont Pilot arrested at Buffalo airport with loaded gun in bag

As a gun owner and advocate I can always tell you where my firearms are at down to the square inch..Forgot it was in his bag? I seriously doubt it. This is all we needed at PDT right now...

Yeah I agree, especially if you have kids! I just can't think of any other logical explanation other than irresponsibly forgetting. Why in the world would you ruin your career like that and possibly sit in prison for years on purpose....

Just got word today..and I want to emphasize that this is not confirmed or yet established fact and may very well be incorrect supposition but:

Apparently, the firearm was in his roll-aboard which he lawfully checked through to his home base and he had acquired the weapon in Buffalo from a friend or relative. It was actually not loaded but had a fully loaded speed loader in the bag with it. The ticket agents were aware and proper procedures were followed. But the TSA realizing it was a crew bag and that the Captain would have access to this bag once loaded objected to the bag going on the aircraft and gave the captain a choice, either you or the firearm, not both are going on the plane. The Captain then got into a heated confrontation over TSA doing what they do best and just making up rules as they go along and was eventually escorted off the premises under arrest.

That's awesome gotta love the media, completely and 100% wrong, but now the TSA look great because they stopped a potential terrorist.

LOL, maybe, maybe not. I really don't know if that was what happened or just wishful thinking. Folks were saying something different today. The Grape Vine Fu at PDT is strong!

If this is really how this went down.... REALLY a sad situation we're in.

This actually makes total sense! I bet it is the truth.

If the "it was checked and the TSA had a cow about it" scenario is what happened (and I could see that happening) then the TSA would have kittens if they realized how easily accessible ALL checked bags/cargo is on the ATR!
