Piedmont Hiring - $23/hr

For those that may be interested in what I believe is the best paying regional, Piedmont is hiring and they start at $23/hr.

On top of that, they are providing:
$2,500 relocation assistance
$3,000 annual retention bonus

The health insurance is really good. However, a downside is the location. Salisbury, MD. About a 2 hour drive to BWI.

A regional airline doesn't send anybody to a major. You make it based on your knowledge and experience, which is up to you to work to perfect. If you have the ambition to perfect your craft you'll make it to a major no matter what regional you work for. Some regionals offer better pay or QOL, some offer a bigger swath of experience, but at the end of the day it is up to you to make yourself an attractive candidate for a major.

In the major dispatch hiring spree job market we are in now, I would say this is correct. When we hit a bear market though for hiring, a small geographically isolated regional like Piedmont can be a hindrance to moving direct to a major. Majors tend to like spreading out new hires from a variety of sources. WN, DL, AA, UA all hire a significant number from internal departments as well as from regionals that do flying for them. Smaller regionals get a smaller piece of that pie. With 20-30 new hires in a class and 150 in a year, this makes it easier to get a spot. When hiring goes back to 5-10 new hires and 50 a year, it reduces the chances of getting in directly from that source. A smaller airline means its harder to get one of those spots. Being geographically isolated means networking is more challenging. Yes, Skywest is isolated but it has a large operational scale that makes up for the geographic disadvantage.
