Pictures from Western Alaska

Dude great pictures for sure...cold as hell but if you like it then props---(no pun intended) ha it's friday so why not

That airplane looks awesome. Actually it looks like a mini herc, well kinda.
Many military groups around the globe use/fly those planes. I think that was the original idea behind them.

And the Casa 235 as well.

It's really a mini hurc

Oh man! I don't get over here enough/very much! Those pics are amazing and just beautiful! I loved them! Going to show them to Sue. Damn, AK is so wondrous. I can't imagine having such incredible views every day I work. Lucky, lucky man. Sigh. Can't wait to see more.

Nice/interesting ride btw. There are loads of them flying in Europe and in various mountain ranges/remote areas all over the place and in Asia for example. I used to see them in Thailand and in the Philippines, as I remember. I read somewhere they use them in the Antarctic too. I've never seen one real close up or the inside of one though. How do you like her? If you have a chance and don't mind, can you post some flight deck and other interior pics? How much cargo can she carry?

I will certainly get you some pictures. I really like the airplane. It is basically a giant flying truck. Overall it requires a lot of rudder I find. Single engine work will make your legs sore. It can be squirrely in the crosswinds, especially when light. With that high wing, and very narrow wheelbase. The main gears are only 10 feet apart.

Beautiful pictures. Been watching Flying Wild Alaska. The scenery alone makes me want to go there. Alaska's been on my bucket list for a while now :)

I could care less about the jets, but that makes me want to quit my office job and go fly for a living... thanks.

As it seems that I am getting closer and closer to heading north to fly, I sure hope I get pics of more than ice. :) Great pics. Love the blue of the ice on the lakes.

Awesome pictures! I'm in the background process with AST right now. Hopefully I'll hear by November. My background investigator asked me a bunch of times if I'm comfortable going to places like Nome. I told him, "I'm not sure there is any human who enjoys -20F, but I'll do it." :)

Haha, I am hoping things melt soon. It is making progress though!

That is awesome! Nome is actually pretty cool. I liked it there. A lot more than Kotzebue. Hopefully you get on and head north.

Hood launched it's first plane off the lake on Monday. The rivers in and around fairbanks are clear of ice. Just took a trip up to Anatuvik pass, and while it's still white everywhere the runway has no snow.

Damn!!! Breathtaking!!!! So untouched, perfect, vast, magical and spiritual.........just beyond words. Mountains are stunning. Like nothing I have ever seen in the lower 48. The colors.....something about them.....just so unique somehow.....hard to define. Pastel but not....strong and powerful, yet delicate in a way. Very pure, it's the only word I can think of to describe them. Really great shots.

Are those musk ox running around on the strip??? Bejebus! That's just wonderful! People pay a fortune to traipse around the globe to get a view of some unique animals in the wild and look what you get to see on a day at work. I hate you. :) You are very fortunate.

#5 on the enlarged version........amazing. You can just see forever. Thank you for posting these.

Yeah. Those are musk ox on the runway. They can move surprisingly fast.

I do love this job. The things I get to see, the people I meet, and the people I fly with are awesome. I also love the challenge of flying out here.
