Pictures from the "source"

Cold Ass Honky
Flew some jounralist out to the deepwater horizon spill site today. These are the photos i took with my camera phone. Didnt know i was going on the trip, or i would have gotten something more suiting.

The pictures really dont do justice to the size. It might fill up an entire picture, but when you go out there its nothing but oil as far as you can see.

All the streaks of discoloration is sheen from the oil.

"Ground Zero" The two releif wells are visible as well as the container vessel burning off gas. The red blob around the well is crude oil. The picture looks funky cause i was in a hard slip trying to shoot out the passenger window.

Huge amount of sheen. Very visible.

The streaks of red is pure cruel oil.

More crude.

Like i said the pictures really dont do it justice. It looks small, but we're prolly talking an area of 100sq miles in each picture.

I've never considered myself much of an environmentalist, but this makes me sick. I'll try to get some shots of grand isle and barataria bay on my next trip. Very awful stuff out there.

more from today. Took a photographer up from the Times Picayune. Credit for the photos goes to Ted Jackson, I was just flying. :)

Those pictures are amazing. There is no way to fathom what the actual situation is down there unless you see it firsthand. Sadly these are consequences that society will eventually have to accept in our demand for fossil fuels and technological advancements.

those second set of pictures are high quality. I'm sure there are some news/environmental sources that would like them.

Yeah, the photographer was with the times picayune. they made the front page down here.

Also, they're not hassling too much about the TFR anymore, we pretty much get what we want. All it took was talking to our POI, our congressmen writing a letter to Babbit, and getting interviewed by news week, the washington post, the new york times, and a couple of european outlets. The FAA ended up sending a guy down from washington to replace the bastard who was running the show.

Haven't there been spills int he middle east where ships sucked the oil from the water? Thought I heard that before. Also I don't get why they burn from ships and the surface, there has to be a way to collect at least some of the oil. From the destroyed wellhead it just flows and flows...no collection there either. This is a world changing event, not just in the gulf.
