PIC time with instructor in plane after PPL

Hello all,

I recently acquired my PPL and am working on the instrument rating now. My instructor tells me now that I have the license I can log our dual instruction flights as PIC time. I didn't know this to be true.

I'm logging dual received and PIC time simultaneously.

Where in the FARs does it permit this?

Thanks!

It's in pt 61, you're sole manip of the controls and you're rated in category and class so you can log pic. You're instructor can log pic too.

Its part 141 actually.

I looked through some other people's logbooks online and noticed they too were logging dual received time after private training as PIC (as part 141, I assume).

Thanks for the input.

[/ QUOTE ]FAR 61.51(e)(1). The same rule that allows you to log PIC time when you are flying without an instructor.

Part 141 has nothing to do with how you log time. This is all covered in Pt 61, mostly in 61.51 like Midlife has noted.

Your instructor is correct. As others have said you may log it because you are rated in the class/category of aircraft and are sole manipulator of the controls. Your instructor can log it due to regulations allowing instructors to log PIC for time they are acting as instructors........(I've been an instructor for >2yrs and this is absolutely the way it is, no bending of the rules here).
