Ended up in PHX twice last week. Forgot my camera the first time cuz I was in a major hurry.
This dreary fall day begins next to Bigfoot.
Spent most of the day getting inspections and paperwork done on the airplane. Spent the night out on Power Road by IWA.
Bright and early the next morning on the Cutter ramp at PHX.
I promptly installed my camera bag way in the back of the Toga where I couldn't reach it, so there aren't any pictures from the flight back to the DFW area. This trip was cool as it turned out; the airplane needed to end up in FXE but it would do the buyer no good for it to arrive on a Saturday, so I flew it back home and spent the weekend working on dismantling my wrecked Jetta.
The weather system that caused the dreary sky in the first picture has been with us about a week and will be here the rest of this week, too.
Finally get to see the sun again.
You gotta eat and drink at regular intervals. I couldn't do my job without CLIF bars and Gatorade. Always use a checklist!
Got to shoot an approach for the first time in a while. Landed at Greenwood, MS to inspect another airplane. I popped out of the clouds at 400 feet and saw a 757 where I was expecting the ramp to be and just about hit the gas to go missed. UPon looking at it for a second or two, I realized it was parked with a bunch of other hulks on the ramp. Apparently GE Capital Leasing owns the graveyard and has a bunch of rotting airliners there. There were some Frontier and American Airbii and a bunch of roasted 737s. The US Air 757 looked like it could be fueled up and flown away.
Undercast finally starts to break up around Tallahassee.
Around the same time, I start to hit the PM Florida storms. No WX on board and no radar. That's why they pay me the big bux.
I make it through but rounds 2, 3 , and 4 are visible about 100 miles away.
I arrive at FXE just in time to see this.
I got a ERV-DTW-LGB trip coming up this weekend, so more pictures are on the way. That one will be back where I belong: in a turbo Mooney.
