Places will simply trash the photo and keep the resume.. or trash the resume along with the photo.

I know of quite a few HR professionals that will automatically trash any resume that contains a birth date, mention of the person's race, includes a picture, or any other information that could be construed to be used as discriminatory. They would rather not give anyone any possible ammunition for a discrimination lawsuit, so if the resume contains that type of information it is thrown out. If the company doesn't know your age or race or any other non-job related personal information, they can't be accused of using that against you.

Don't get me wrong, i think the whole picture thing is kind of wierd. I voted no. I don't need to show off my hottness, that'll just make it harder for you ugly folks to get hired

Not true. Its not uncommon for law offices to request a photo of the potential attorney hire with their resume.

I don't you should have to include a photo with a resume. I think thats a little ridiculous as well as pointless. You make your first impression at the interview, just hope you make it a good one.

I know plenty of pilots who include a photo with their resume.
Like it or not part of our job is to instill confidence in the passengers and like it or not its natural for people to think that a better looking/more fit person is able to do a better job.
Is it true? I dunno.
But if your a corporate flight departments cheif pilot and your tasked with bringing in a new pilot that is suppost to instill the same amount of confidence from nervous CEO's as the guy who left after flying them for 10 years then whats a good way to do that?
Also I believe how you take care of your body is a fairly decent representation of your attitude towards allot of things in life. I'm not saying we all need 3% body fat and the muscle build of a pro body builder but messy hair, stained and slobbby shirts, a dunlop belly etc... can all be signs of a lazy attitude towards hardwork. Also if your not gonna take a personal pride in your own personal appearance how can I expect you to take enough pride in your work/aircraft to clean and prepare it everytime.
Theres a statistic that says employers will know in the first 10 seconds of seeing you if they're gonna seriously consider you for a job. Just think of the picture as an opportunity to get that first 10 seconds right because now you can pick and choose which picture to send in.
Having said all that I've never sent in a picture with a resume and when people see me in street clothes they have no idea what i do for a living. I'm usually found in flip-slops, an old skate t-shirt and some sort of baggy pants.
But i clean up well.
