Phenom 100 crash in MD

This reminds me of the Beech Premier crash in South Bend, IN in March 2013, 21 months ago. I just checked and there's still no final NTSB report. The owner in that one was the PIC.

I'm watching the local coverage on this right now and it's really a gut punch.

The groundside victims - mother and two young children - were cut off from rescue services by flames.

Eldest child at school, father at work.

This sucks.

I'm not sure what that means in this context. You actually have trouble believing that it happened? You refuse to accept that it happened? Both? Something else?

It's just extremely tragic that there was loss of life on the ground. I can't even begin to imagine getting a phone call that informs you that 2 of your children and wife are dead. There's a lot of talk of owner operator error and if that's the case, for me that's the unacceptable part. We finally got info about why that PC12 crashed last year, a simple autopilot disconnect killed a whole family. If this turns out to be another simple mistake caused by a rich guy, then a serious look at the requirements to operate these aircraft needs to be looked at.

Pattern turn (downwind/base) or more likely base/final. With eye witness description, it sounds like a stall/spin in pattern during turn. Not the first time it's happened, and it certainly won't be the last.

RIP to the family killed in the house, they had nothing to do with the flight.
On the radio he says he is straight in, no turn. Not sure what witness said it was turning, everything I have read just said the nose was pitching up and down and wings fluttering.

Also, on the radio, another pilot requested cannons because their was an unusual amount of birds in the area.

Maybe lets chill on throwing this guy under the bus so quickly. Too many lives were lost today because of this. RIP.

You didn't listen to the audio.

At the 8:42 mark, "numerous birds" reported
AT 8:46 – Phenom reports "100 EQ is now 7 mi straight-in"
At 9:11 – 2nd report of birds "Watch out for birds"
At 9:45 Phenom reports "6000" (or 6 mi's) straight-in 14 ??
At the 10:10 mark, another airplane cites an "we have an unusual amount of birds out here … can you guys bring out the cannons"

At the 10:29 mark, the Phenom calls "3 mile straight in 14" …. Sounds perfectly normal
[No indication of anything wrong or of trying to follow a slow airplane.]

At 11:40 "Hey guys I think that Phenom has come up short"

Heard the two bird warnings and the Phenom pilot reporting twice on final but no reaction on the bird reports. Could this be pilot error for not shooting a missed approach?

Edit: Eh guess not. That would be for weather. I recant my stupid question and rest my case. Thank you all for the humorous comments.

Here's the flight track from FlightRadar24

That is absolutely ridiculous to blame a pilot for not going missed on a VFR day because there are lots of birds flying around.

If your number is up... sometimes your number is just up.
