Perhaps I am not meant to be a pilot ?

Chair flying is one of THE best helps for anyone, IMO. Either that, or go out and sit in the plane when it is on the ground. My flight school has a Motus full motion sim that we can pratice engine outs in, but chair flying and ground flying are free.

I had some of those same feelings as well (and still get them), just like everyone else here has said they've had. Again, it just made me more cautious and probably more safe. About the fear of engine failure; when I was funny of that I just scheduled an hour or two of dual and went up with my CFI and JUST practiced emergency procedures after memorizing the critical items in the EOP checklists and chair flying before hand. That really helped to put me at ease, or at least make me more confident in case something would happen.

Personally, my biggest fear is an in-flight fire! It is good to have the EOP checklists memorized so you don't have to fumble around for the right ones. That helped me, so give it a shot. Enjoy your flying and have a great time!

Just kidding, dude!

No, I still get the butterflies when I come in on final approach. ("Still" being only 28 hours later.

) I mean, you're edging just a few knots above stall speed, you're only a few hundred feet above the ground (where are those F'ing power lines?!) and you're trying to hold some semblance of a lateral, centerline approach. Definitely gets intense ...

Keep it up, man! A little nerves show you're human.

I remember being quizzed on what to do if there was a fire in the fuel tanks. I looked over to the guy asking it, and said, uh, well, I think I'd leave this world in a big fireball, but that's about all I'd have time to do.

I've gotten asked what to do if the nav light causes a fire on the wing before. If there was a fire IN the fuel tank, it might be a little late to try to sideslip......

The funny part is... when I am not flying.. I wish I was..and
when I am up here.. I often think I should have stayed on the ground.

Sounds like someone needs Paxil

Paxil commercial:

And when I'm at work I'm worried about things at home".

That was the question he meant to ask. He kind of messed up and instead of saying how would you keep the fire from the fuel tanks, he said what would you do if your fuel tank caught fire.
